Biography
I am a board certified family law specialist and devote 100% of my practice to divorce & family law.
One of my goals is to provide the client with the pertinent information so that he or she can make the best decision, an informed decision. Sometimes a client does not agree with what I feel is the best decision. Ultimately it is your life, and you get to call the shots, but at least make an informed decision.
My job as your attorney is to represent your best interests. In most cases, part of representing the client’s best interests is for the client to keep as much money in his/her pocket as possible- and paying your attorney as little as possible. If there is ever any work you can do in your case yourself, and thereby reducing your attorney’s fees, I will always give you the option to do it yourself. Not only does this reduce your attorney’s fees, but it means you are more actively involved in your case.
The most important thing is that your trust your lawyer. I am personally, morally, legally and ethically obligated to be loyal to my clients. Many people are not “themselves” during a divorce. Their head is foggy and their moods depressed. They don’t know who to trust and they are angry. Many times they do things or act in ways that are detrimental to themselves. These things can produce conflict with your lawyer as well as other people around you; try to be patient and understand that your lawyer is working for you and you must trust that.

Originally from Greensboro, NC, Emily graduated magna cum laude from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, with a double degree in History and Political Science. She earned law degree from The Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University and has practiced family law exclusively since being admitted to practice Law in North Carolina.

While in law school, Emily excelled in her studies and extracurricular activities. As a result of Emily’s genuine interest and passion for the courtroom, she excelled in Campbell Law’s moot court competition, and additionally was awarded the North Carolina Advocates for Justice Advocacy Award. In the summer before her third year of law school and continuing during the school year, Emily worked part-time for a law firm in Smithfield, which provided her with valuable hands on experience that isn’t taught in law school.

Emily began her legal career as an associate attorney at two other family law firms in Wake County before deciding to form her own law firm. She has not looked back, and enjoys the flexibility that having her own firms allows, while providing the utmost in professionalism and knowledgeable advice.
- Emily has exclusively practiced family law from day one and is a board certified family law specialist, a designation limited to only a couple hundred of attorneys statewide out of more than 20,000 licensed North Carolina lawyers.
- Emily is also both certified family financial and superior court mediator.

Emily is currently an active member with the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association Family Law Section, the American Bar Association Family Law Section, and the Wake County Bar Association.
