A case of neglect and abuse to a non-verbal Autistic Individual

I put my 17 y.o. son in a group home thinking it would be in his best interest and it turned into a nightmare. He was seriously burned (1st, 2nd and in some areas possibly 3rd degree) over his shoulder and back, inches from his face. There was a thorough investigation, staff was arrested and charged,... but no one confessed and my son couldn't tell me what happened or who did it. So, the group home took the stance that this incident did not happen on their watch at their group home. Despite some documented reports and other obvious information regarding this case, the owners and manager of this group home decided to flat out deny that they were responsible in any way for my son's injuries. Needless to say, this was a complicated case. I learned quickly that most attorneys prefer to avoid such cases, but Jay Mills was very willing to help and I will always be grateful. It was important to me that the owners and manager of this group home did not get to walk away from this incident without experiencing some repercussions for being the sort of people that would do this monstrous act and deny it. Jay Mills supported my need to advocate for my son and guided me through this very difficult ordeal including the legal process of a civil law suit. I highly recommend Jay.

Outstanding Representation

I could not speak more highly of Jay. He represented me through my personal injury (automobile accident) case, thoroughly explained the complexities, managed my expectations on the outcome and kept me updated/prepared throughout the entire process. He is clearly an outstanding attorney with the deter...mination to do right by his client. Highly recommended.

Outstanding Attorney

Jay Mills is a truly outstanding attorney and I couldn’t be more satisfied with his legal representation. He represented me through a complex and unique personal injury case with multiple defendants and put me in the best position to win a favorable outcome. The legal process can be long and stressfu...l, but he made sure I was well prepared for every step along the way. He was always personable, responsive to my questions, and always listened to my concerns. When it comes time to settle a claim, there is no-one else I’d rather have on my side. He thinks through every scenario imaginable and will prove that he is the most prepared attorney in the room.

Awesome Lawyer

My case was one of a kind. As complicated as it was having to deal with several different people and they all had an attorneys in four different states. Jay manages to see me thru it all as painful as it was we survived. Jay is a very talented attorney who knows his stuff and he does his research. I ...will recommend him to anyone who needs help with estates and or wrongful death claims.

Good luck getting a response...

I was interested in consulting with this individual and left him a message on his direct phone. Over a week passed with no response. I gave him the benefit of a doubt and visited his website, found his name among several and submitted a synopsis of my case with the hope of piquing his interest. Again..., no response. I understand that attorneys have clients, deadlines, court appearances and such, but to completely blow me off is unacceptable and highly indicative of the probable future treatment I would have received had he been hired. If he wasn't interested in my case or had too large of a case load, it would have taken him five minutes or less to return my call (or to email), to say as much and to possibly refer me to someone else. I had taken the time to research Jenkins, to make a call and to write a synopsis. I would think he could have respected that and shown me the courtesy of investing five minutes on my behalf. There is a thing called the "Statute of Limitations," and wasting my time while I waited...and waited...could very well have caused harm to my case. It's a good thing that waiting didn't do significant damage.

Elaine - I don't recall any inquiry from you but that does not mean it didn't happen. I've been very busy over the last several weeks. I pride myself in responding promptly to all client's and most client inquiries. Sometimes it is clear from the inquiry itself that I am not the right attorney. While I typically call and let the person know that, sometimes the actual clients who have hired me take precedence with respect to my time. That being said, I am happy to discuss with you if you like. My direct dial number is 919.235.3824. Please feel free to call anytime and if I miss you, leave your name and number and the best times to reach you and I will do my best. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Typically the statute of limitations is at least a year long so chances are, if you made a recent inquiry, and if you have a viable claim, there is still time to pursue it. I hope to hear from you soon so we can resolve any issues you might have. Thanks and have a good weekend. Jay Mills
