Didn't fire her, but only because I couldn't afford to hire anyone else

Kathleen started off the relationship by being kind and empathetic, and assured me she would fight for me and my children. In the end, I had to hash things out alone with my ex, because she basically gave up on getting him to agree to terms. I had to constantly call, text, and email to receive any ki...nd of response, and she was often rude and unhelpful. I felt mislead by her, and she seemed less concerned about helping me than she did about getting her fee. Once it was paid, I was no longer a priority. I would not advise anyone to hire Kathleen to represent them during a divorce or custody case.

Please Consider

Please read all reviews before you hire Kathleen. Consult other attorneys and do your research. Divorce is so difficult and it's important to have a strong advocate by your side! Kathleen does not return calls or emails and she's very difficult to communicate with. She is unprepared and often takes ...your money performing little to no work. Her only concern is money and not the best interests of her clients.

I do not have any client that has communicated that my services have been terminated or that they are unsatisfied with my work. It would be nice if the person who posted this review had said these statements to be directly but in the internet age, sometimes a post can come from an opposing party who is not satisified with the outcome of their case.

DO NOT USE KATHLEEN MURPHY FOR YOUR FAMILY LAW CASE

Kathleen Murphy is the worst choice you could make for an attorney. I hired her, paid an unbelievable sum of money and have absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, to show for it. She is lazy, unfocused and disorganized. When you meet with her she portrays herself as a put together, highly experie...nced, empathetic advocate and nothing could be further from the truth. She could not care less about your personal situation and presents herself in a completely unprofessional manner. It is something we hope no one else will ever experience.

I do not know who made this comment but I have not had any clients leave my firm in the past two years and hire other counsel. Anytime a client comes to us with a concern, we try to address the concerns and although we will not make everyone happy, we do try hard to work with all our clients for the goal of client satisfaction. In all honesty, there are clients who have not been satisfied with our services and yet, in the 26 years I have been practicing, I am happy to say that I continue to receive referrals to my office from prior clients on a regular basis.

Review

I filed for custody 2 weeks ago and I have a set date for orientation September 3, 2014. My daughters father went to Kathleen Murphys office today and she decided to send me a letter about their discussion. The email was rude and unprofessional adn simply not her place since she told me via email and... over the phone she is not his attorney. I assumed she was someone he ran into. In the letter she states times and dates set that have not been discussed with me at all. It explains that he is stopping care that he never started due to their conversation. I am confused because in another paragraph she states he is a client. She asks not to reply to the email so I called her. She was vague when I asked why she emailed me. She stated again that she was not his attorney and so I took this as a bad scare tactic. When I asked her how is she emailing me about terms about my daughter she instructs me to talk to him and tells me her email was clear. I was not happy at this point because if you are not representing him how are you setting anything for my daughter and we have court next week. She was unprofessional and rude. The email is enclosed as well. Her practices should be looked into. This is a man who has not seen his daughter in 3 weeks and one and in one conversation they both deal on her visits and set up things that have not been in existence in forever. I am all about parental rights and abiding by the law but had she asked the right questions her insight and hopefully her academia would have helped her steer their outcome better. Again her practices should be looked into before her advice to non-clients gets someone hurt. We are in a terrible time where people need right advice and with attorneys need to be accountable and by the book.

I have never worked with this person nor do I agree with the facts she has alleged. Divorce is a very emotional process and to review my services based on a phone call is sometimes expected when an individual does not like what she is hearing. A rating based on a person who has never worked with our firm is not representative of our standards of care towards our clients. I have been in practice for 26 years and my practice has been entirely focused on family law matters. I have seen many situations where one party is withholding custody for money and when the law is made clear that custody and child support are not to be dependent on the other, the reaction is often anger.
