Review

I filed for custody 2 weeks ago and I have a set date for orientation September 3, 2014. My daughters father went to Kathleen Murphys office today and she decided to send me a letter about their discussion. The email was rude and unprofessional adn simply not her place since she told me via email and... over the phone she is not his attorney. I assumed she was someone he ran into. In the letter she states times and dates set that have not been discussed with me at all. It explains that he is stopping care that he never started due to their conversation. I am confused because in another paragraph she states he is a client. She asks not to reply to the email so I called her. She was vague when I asked why she emailed me. She stated again that she was not his attorney and so I took this as a bad scare tactic. When I asked her how is she emailing me about terms about my daughter she instructs me to talk to him and tells me her email was clear. I was not happy at this point because if you are not representing him how are you setting anything for my daughter and we have court next week. She was unprofessional and rude. The email is enclosed as well. Her practices should be looked into. This is a man who has not seen his daughter in 3 weeks and one and in one conversation they both deal on her visits and set up things that have not been in existence in forever. I am all about parental rights and abiding by the law but had she asked the right questions her insight and hopefully her academia would have helped her steer their outcome better. Again her practices should be looked into before her advice to non-clients gets someone hurt. We are in a terrible time where people need right advice and with attorneys need to be accountable and by the book.

I have never worked with this person nor do I agree with the facts she has alleged. Divorce is a very emotional process and to review my services based on a phone call is sometimes expected when an individual does not like what she is hearing. A rating based on a person who has never worked with our firm is not representative of our standards of care towards our clients. I have been in practice for 26 years and my practice has been entirely focused on family law matters. I have seen many situations where one party is withholding custody for money and when the law is made clear that custody and child support are not to be dependent on the other, the reaction is often anger.

Divorce attorneys deal with the best people on their worst behavior

Mrs. Murphy is a dedicated and lovely person. She is honest and knowledgeable. She works best when she has all the information. She's good at gleaning the important bits from a sea of divorce details. I always trusted that she knew my heart and could respond as a responsible mother and attorney.

Client

Kathleen helped manage an emergency situation of child custody. She was referred by another past client of hers who mentioned Kathleen was a go-getter, a bulldog and didn't back down. She is very educated in law, long years of experience in this specialty and, knows what she needs to do to get the ...job done. She is extremely prepared for court and we were able to win our case given the amount of information we had, evidence we offered, and preparation work that was completed. I would highly recommend Kathleen and her team to help you in any domestic law situation.

Kathleen Murphy attorney at law

I have been working with Kathleen for 21 months so far. She is handling my divorce and all the related issues. It is a very long process with my difficult ex, but we just had our first real day in court and got the result we were after. Kathleen has been up front since the beginning that custody is h...er specialty and we still have that to do, but I trust her completely to protect my daughter and I. She knows how to organize the mountains of paperwork and helps you separate the inevitable emotional responses from what matters in court.

very affordable and capable

Kathleen Murphy represented me for my custody case. She is located right across the street from the court house which was convenient. She charged me a flat fee which ended up being half as much as my son's mothers lawyer and she was 100% better in court than he was ( though I will say he had a diffic...ult woman to defend). Her court room performance was top notch. She knew the right questions and how to ask them. I would highly recommend her but remember that your lawyer can only help you as well as you help them. Document things and keep them orderly and most importantly give your lawyer the things you have documented. If you give her the material she needs she will win.
