Review

I filed for custody 2 weeks ago and I have a set date for orientation September 3, 2014. My daughters father went to Kathleen Murphys office today and she decided to send me a letter about their discussion. The email was rude and unprofessional adn simply not her place since she told me via email and... over the phone she is not his attorney. I assumed she was someone he ran into. In the letter she states times and dates set that have not been discussed with me at all. It explains that he is stopping care that he never started due to their conversation. I am confused because in another paragraph she states he is a client. She asks not to reply to the email so I called her. She was vague when I asked why she emailed me. She stated again that she was not his attorney and so I took this as a bad scare tactic. When I asked her how is she emailing me about terms about my daughter she instructs me to talk to him and tells me her email was clear. I was not happy at this point because if you are not representing him how are you setting anything for my daughter and we have court next week. She was unprofessional and rude. The email is enclosed as well. Her practices should be looked into. This is a man who has not seen his daughter in 3 weeks and one and in one conversation they both deal on her visits and set up things that have not been in existence in forever. I am all about parental rights and abiding by the law but had she asked the right questions her insight and hopefully her academia would have helped her steer their outcome better. Again her practices should be looked into before her advice to non-clients gets someone hurt. We are in a terrible time where people need right advice and with attorneys need to be accountable and by the book.

I have never worked with this person nor do I agree with the facts she has alleged. Divorce is a very emotional process and to review my services based on a phone call is sometimes expected when an individual does not like what she is hearing. A rating based on a person who has never worked with our firm is not representative of our standards of care towards our clients. I have been in practice for 26 years and my practice has been entirely focused on family law matters. I have seen many situations where one party is withholding custody for money and when the law is made clear that custody and child support are not to be dependent on the other, the reaction is often anger.

Unconditionally Recommended

After two years of angst, heartache and six figures of attorney's fees with another lawyer yeilding very dismal result from the court, I finally found Kathleen. She took immediate control of my case and I finally got fair treatment from the Legal System and got my kids back to live with me after my... exwife left the state with them. Stopped her claim for alimony, and got fair distribution of property, protecting my home. There was no issue she didn't know how to conquer, and worked efficiently and with cost effectiveness. I would not recommend anyone else to a man in a very bad divorce case. Consider her one of my best friends forever.

I needed and trusted her and her staff completely

After 2 years of no interest or visits, my son's father decided he wanted full custody. His attorney played dirty from the start. Kathleen always knew the laws and courtroom policy enough to cut her short. I had my son at 33 years old. So, obviously I had a "party" past. I admitted everything ab...out my past. Unfortunately, the judge had no knowledge of drug recovery. She didn't have a problem with severe drinking. Also, I have been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and been on my medications and been stable for several years. The judge had no desire to educate herself concerning drug/alcohol addiction, or bi-polar disorder. She actually treated me as if I might go crazy at any moment. Kathleen and her staff made sure they proved medical fact instead of letting the other lawyer to lead the judge to believe falsehoods. She knows the law inside and out. She is forceful in the courtroom. She commands respect, and deserves it in every way. I am convinced I would have lost my son had it not been for Kathleen, Melissa, and Patrick. My case was over nearly a year ago. I had a question tosday. I spoke with Kathleen, and she knew the answer automatically. Above all else, she was concerned with my life and how things have been since the custody battle. I would find it hard to believe that a lawyer would show interest in you after the case is over. I would highly recommend her over and over, and have. I have my son!! I will never be able to thank Kathleen and her staff enough.
