Amazing

Kathleen was so professional in the court room and was on top of all the details. I couldn't have been happier with the decision to hire her to handle my custody case. She did an amazing job in the court room and saved my family. Thank you Kathleen for everything!

Kathleen saved me and my son

Kathleen is amazing. I can not express my gratitude enough to her for saving me from my volatile and extremely difficult ex husband. She looked out for me and my son's best interest. She truly cares about her clients and works hard. She believed in me and was able to give me and my son the outcome we... needed. She was there during my most emotional moments and encouraged me to fight. She was definitely in my corner and I have custody of my son and look forward to working with her for the entirety of my divorce and trust that I am in the best hands. She showed no fear in the face of my violent and manipulative ex, and stood up to him and did the right thing for my child. She is in the right occupation, she is truly gifted. I am so happy to have her in my life and at my side during this crazy time. I could not disagree more with the review that says she only cares about money and does little work and doesn't answer emails. She answered ever one of my emails in a timely manner even if it was late, my texts, my phone calls, and worked hard.

Calm during the emotional storm!

Kathleen is an amazing attorney. As a single woman with limited income, she was willing to work with me on the billing, but she didn't treat me any different than a client who could just write a check for the whole shebang. She worked diligently and tirelessly, and in the end, I got custody of my t...wo children and child support. I could not have gotten through the process and raised my children to be the wonderful people they are today, without her help! As stated by another reviewer, your attorney can only help you when you present them with all the facts, no hiding details. I have just recommended a dear friend to Kathleen and I am sure that they will be as satisfied with her services as I was. I read in another post some statements about her demeanor, but let me assure you, Kathleen is definitely the "ROCK" you need in the courtroom!

Highly recommend

Kathleen has represented my family twice. Once in a divorce where she helped me to obtain full-custody of my children. This advice has been beneficial to me and my ex-husband. As a result we have a very friendly post-marriage relationship which is always best for the children. She still continues... to represent my new husband in matters related to a suit by his ex-wife for custody of his children and unreasonable child support. This relationship has caused major rifts in the family. The ex-wife uses the children to bully our family, and won't seek counsel herself to bring final resolution to the matters on the table because she knows the legal advice Kathleen has shared is spot on. Kathleen fights for her clients and she always puts the children's well-being first.

Review

I filed for custody 2 weeks ago and I have a set date for orientation September 3, 2014. My daughters father went to Kathleen Murphys office today and she decided to send me a letter about their discussion. The email was rude and unprofessional adn simply not her place since she told me via email and... over the phone she is not his attorney. I assumed she was someone he ran into. In the letter she states times and dates set that have not been discussed with me at all. It explains that he is stopping care that he never started due to their conversation. I am confused because in another paragraph she states he is a client. She asks not to reply to the email so I called her. She was vague when I asked why she emailed me. She stated again that she was not his attorney and so I took this as a bad scare tactic. When I asked her how is she emailing me about terms about my daughter she instructs me to talk to him and tells me her email was clear. I was not happy at this point because if you are not representing him how are you setting anything for my daughter and we have court next week. She was unprofessional and rude. The email is enclosed as well. Her practices should be looked into. This is a man who has not seen his daughter in 3 weeks and one and in one conversation they both deal on her visits and set up things that have not been in existence in forever. I am all about parental rights and abiding by the law but had she asked the right questions her insight and hopefully her academia would have helped her steer their outcome better. Again her practices should be looked into before her advice to non-clients gets someone hurt. We are in a terrible time where people need right advice and with attorneys need to be accountable and by the book.

I have never worked with this person nor do I agree with the facts she has alleged. Divorce is a very emotional process and to review my services based on a phone call is sometimes expected when an individual does not like what she is hearing. A rating based on a person who has never worked with our firm is not representative of our standards of care towards our clients. I have been in practice for 26 years and my practice has been entirely focused on family law matters. I have seen many situations where one party is withholding custody for money and when the law is made clear that custody and child support are not to be dependent on the other, the reaction is often anger.
