Biography
Born in Greenville, North Carolina, Collin Cook grew up in Raleigh, where he attended Ravenscroft High School. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 2004 with a degree in history, and he began studying law at Wake Forest University in the fall of 2004.
During the summers of 2005 and 2006, between his academic years of study at Wake Forest Law School, Collin clerked for the criminal trial defense and appeals section of the firm. In that role, he engaged in factual and legal analysis in cases ranging from complex white collar matters to first-degree capital murder. He also consulted with experts and investigators in various fields and subject matters, helped prepare witness examinations and defense themes and theories for trial, and assisted in the courtroom during trials. He also assisted in the criminal appellate work performed by the section.
In 2007, after graduating from Wake Forest Law School, Collin remained at the firm as an attorney in the criminal trial defense and appeals section. His practice focuses on criminal trial defense and appeals in North Carolina’s state courts.
Business North Carolina named Collin as one of the state’s Legal Elite in criminal defense practice in 2011 2012, and 2013, a distinction bestowed on less than 3 percent of the state’s lawyers. In 2012 and 2013, Super Lawyers selected him as a Rising Star for his work representing individuals in the criminal justice system. In 2014, Collin was recognized by the National Advocacy for DUI Defense (NAFDD), as one of the top 100 DWI lawyers in North Carolina.
