A great option if you want an estate attorney with a personal touch

Jason helped me put together all of my estate documents with ease. The details of all of these documents can be quite confusing, but he guided me along and helped me understand what was important and how to make the best decisions. If you want a lawyer who really cares about helping people and minimi...zing conflict for your estate, Jason is a great choice.

First Class Lawyer

What Mr. Jones brings to the table is exceptional. The combination of his knowledge and expertise, his superlative professionalism, and his pleasant and patient demeanour is rare indeed. Jason has advised on our family trusts for several years. Over the past four years, Jason has tirelessly review...ed and inventoried over twenty years of financials and four different trusts for us, while keeping us updated on each stage of the work. While working to resolve the tax controversy, Mr. Jones has collaborated with attorneys in four different states to ensure the fastest possible resolution of our legal issues. Jason has helped us extensively to resolve our tax problem, and to this end, he has made referrals to accountants and collaborated with our tax professionals, making sure everyone had much-needed information. Jason has consistently provided us with a "bird's eye view “of all matters he has worked on for us. He has thoroughly explained the circumstances of our trust issue, and its past, present and future implications. Jason has a particular gift in that he can take complicated legal matters and distil them down in a way that is at once succinct and all-encompassing. He has been able to consistently explain our multifaceted legal issues to us and make them clear and easy to understand. I especially wish to comment on Jason's availability. Jason has never been one of those lawyers that you can never reach on the phone. My wife and I have been immeasurably grateful for Jason's compassionate listening ear when at times we have felt compelled to discuss the effects of one crisis or another on both our case and on our wellbeing. He has been there for us on a level that was over and above the call of duty. After our long professional association, we are glad to call Jason a friend as well as our lawyer.

Jason stepped in to help our family in the most terrible time of our lives and made what could have been a very painful process an easy one. My family was put in a stressful situation when my mother’s health took a sudden turn and we found ourselves at UNC hospital being told that hospice was the onl...y next step. You see, my mom was only 52, a single parent of my 16 year old brother, a tricky custody background and it never even crossed her mind before to have a Will in place. I called Jason and he met us that day (a Sunday none the less) to meet us in the hospital room to get her affairs in order. He was calm, compassionate, and willing to take the time to talk with everyone of my family members. Time was of the essence, and Jason worked around the clock that weekend to make sure that we had everything we needed before leaving the hospital. He completely took care of us as if we were his own family. After drafting her will, trust, and the guardianship for a minor he even met me at the Airbnb I was staying at to hand deliver the paperwork and talked me through everything that I needed to know for the next couple of weeks. I don’t know what we would have done without Jason; he went above and beyond for us which speaks to his character as not only a lawyer but a person.

Employment Law Issue

I approached Mr. Jones in a state of panic several months ago regarding one of my employees. This employee had the following characteristics: female, National Guard reservist (deployed for 50 days during the first 6 months of her employment with us), suffered from PTSD from a deployment in the Middl...e East, chronic back problems that were not directly related to the job (but the job she was doing did require manual labor), had a disabled mother who loved to spend money, and had a heavy reliance on the welfare system. Every time I pick up a newspaper, so it seems, I feel like I’m reading about a lawsuit that matches the situation I found myself in. Here’s the thing though: all of those personal factors aside, she was an unreliable employee, she did not follow directions well, she was a poor communicator, and she completed over 15 installations incorrectly (which forced us to send technicians back to all of those jobs for cleanup). I was in the process of figuring out how to fire her without winding up in a lawsuit. She had recently asked me, “As a woman in this company, am I being treated fairly?” Now I was frightened. She was a poor performing employee, and her termination would have nothing to do with her gender. She would think it was her gender and the fact that she had been deployed for 50 days. This is where Mr. Jones steps into the story. As I mentioned earlier, I called him up in a panic. There are a number of attorneys I’ve talked to over the years about a number of different issues, spanning from trust/will construction, M&A activity, and employment. All of those other attorneys have either 1) stoked the flames of an existing fear pertaining to the situation or 2) created a fear pertaining to the situation that wasn’t already there. This fear escalates the situation and prompts me to request additional document drafting ($$$), more onerous language in those documents ($$$ and oops…the deal fell apart or I carved my future wife out of my will because of her family situation…both true stories), and finally, deepens a sense of mistrust towards the person/company on the other side of the issue. This is where Mr. Jones truly stands out. In no-nonsense language, he calmly explained to me why my fears were misplaced in this situation. He did this through an exemplary understanding of relevant case law and deeply empathetic nature. He didn’t stoke those fears and then attempt to capitalize on them like many attorneys would’ve done. I didn’t leave that conversation thinking that this employee was assuredly trying to steal everything I have, thus requiring us to “lawyer-up,” as they say. He stopped all of those crazy, delusional machinations cold and explained to me why there was far less to worry about than I suspected. He gives you the same respect, attention, and interest that he would give his own family and friends. This really differentiates him in a powerful way. He is an honest, intelligent, fair man that I would highly recommend.

A Refreshingly Genuine & Approachable Professional

I met Jason Jones several years ago while he was a law student providing services through the UNC Lineberger Free Cancer Clinic. His presence then as a student and more recently as a professional has provided comfort and guidance in what has been a tumultuous period in my family's history. Mr. Jone...s has restored some of my confidence in the response a client rightfully expects from a professional and ethical attorney. He listened carefully, reviewed the materials I provided, consulted with a well-seasoned colleague on specifics, and even though the news was grim he responded thoroughly with honesty and integrity. His reasonable fees were unambiguous and stated from the beginning, and reconciling them was a conveniently modern transaction. I recommend him without hesitation and expect him to continue to return some much needed integrity to the profession.
