Advocacy Should Focus on Facts, Not Personal Attacks

My experience with Ashley Bennington as opposing counsel in my custody matter has been extremely negative. To be clear, I did not hire her; she represents my ex-husband. Throughout the case, I have been disturbed by the way she has characterized me personally. Communications and positions taken on... behalf of her client have portrayed me as “difficult,” as a bad mother, and as someone attempting to prevent the father from seeing his child. Those characterizations are particularly troubling to me because my actions have been centered on advocating for my child and addressing concerns through the appropriate legal and professional channels. There is a significant difference between disagreeing with the opposing parent’s position and personally portraying that parent as a bad mother. I fully understand that her responsibility is to advocate for her client. I do not expect opposing counsel to agree with me. I do, however, expect a family-law attorney dealing with matters involving a child to maintain professionalism and focus on the facts, evidence, court orders, and the child’s welfare rather than using personal characterizations of the other parent. Based on my direct experience with her as opposing counsel, I have found her approach unnecessarily adversarial and personally disparaging. My review reflects my own experience and observations during this litigation.

Terrible service

One of the worse attorneys. She dropped the ball so bad on my case. She also looks like she likes to climbs ski slopes. Read between the lines. Money hungry attorney who only works with the other counsel to not help you. 0/10

Very disappointing...

I cannot recommend Ashley Bennington. My divorce left me in financial hardship with long-range consequences in my inability to purchase another home, tax liability and years to recover financially. In retrospect, she was clearly outmaneuvered by opposing counsel on things that should have been easi...ly recognized by an attorney of her supposed expertise. Early on I felt I should have switched attorneys but did not. I paid for hours upon hours of 'preparation for court', yet she used none of it and barely spoke up in court. I don't think she was really invested in my case. Do your due diligence when hiring any attorney.

Best Attorney

Ashley did an amazing job with my child custody case. It was a very crazy situation but she was there to help and guide me the whole way through. She did everything she said she would do and more. I would recommend her to anyone!

Hire someone else

She is not a good lawyer for those wanting custody of their children. She failed me and she failed them.

"Ashley is an A-list attorney in Greensboro. Although we litigate against each other and have competitive interests at times, she handles herself with professionalism and is always prepared for her cases. She advocates with experience but most important, with reasonable approach. Our Bar is lucky to have her."
