Allison C. Layton was drawn to the legal field at an early age. She had the unique opportunity to attend the National Student Leadership Conference at Yale University during high school, an experience that solidified her goal of someday becoming an attorney. Allison graduated from the Randolph Early College High School with both an Associate’s in Arts and an Associate’s in Science – the first in her class to receive dual college degrees along with her high school diploma.
Leaving her hometown of Franklinville, Randolph County, Allison attended High Point University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Pre-Law. At High Point, Allison was a Presidential Scholar, High Point Fellow, Student Athlete with the High Point University Equestrian Team, and member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Allison graduated from High Point Magna Cum Laude. Allison went on to obtain her law degree from Campbell University – Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, where she received Honors in Advanced Negotiations and Analysis and the Blanchard Community Law Clinic. Throughout law school, Allison worked in prominent family law firms in Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as a statewide consumer bankruptcy firm. She dedicated her pro bono service as the Pro Bono Intern of the Domestic Violence Unit of Legal Aid North Carolina where she advocated for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Allison finished law school as a Student Attorney in the Blanchard Community Law Clinic, where she worked with low-income clients to expunge criminal records and restore driver’s license eligibility.
Allison practices primarily in family law and is certified through the Center for Cooperative Parenting as a Guardian Ad Litem for high-conflict custody cases. Allison also enjoys serving families through her estate planning practice. She focuses her practice in Randolph, Guilford, Alamance, and Davidson Counties. Allison serves as the General Counsel for The Republican Party of Randolph County, as well as the General Counsel for the NCGOP 9th Congressional District.
Allison stays actively engaged with her local community. She is a former member of the High Point Guild, supporting Family Services of the Piedmont, a former Associate of the Guilford American Inn of Court, as well as the High Point Bar Association and 24H Judicial District Bar Association. Allison was formerly elected to sit on the Board of Directors for the local non-profit organization, Court Support for Families. She has served as the guest speaker during the 2022 Alumni Spotlight of the Phi Theta Kappa induction ceremony at Randolph Community College, for Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society at High Point University, and the Alpha Kappa Psi co-ed professional Business Fraternity at High Point University.
When she’s not at work, you can find Allison enjoying quality time with her friends and family, spending time outdoors, riding horses, or reading a good book. Allison is actively involved as a Partner in Ministry in her home church, where she serves through the children’s ministry. Allison considers it her distinct honor and privilege to advocate for families and children in need to bring stability and peace into their homes.
