Practice areas

    60%
Assisting those who cannot work due to illness or injury. I assist clients who are just starting the process or even after denied at a hearing.

  2. Banking
    20%
Providing clients the benefit of my years of experience in the debt collection and debt buying industry.

  3. Military law
    20%
Assisting fellow veterans with their service-connected disabilities and all matters with the Veterans Affairs administration.

Compassion and understanding are at the core of how I approach the challenges that face my clients.  Born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, it is my honor to have served as a judge advocate in the US Marine Corps.  I have served with infantry in Iraq, with NATO throughout Europe and with the highest planning levels of the Marine Corps.  As a reservist, I  specialize in disability law where I guide wounded warriors through the medical separation process.  As a result, my experience is with the earliest stages of a disability claim and the innermost workings of the VA.  As a civilian attorney, I spent many years defending debt collectors and banks and as a result, I enjoy providing useful guidance to my clients regarding financial issues.

I harness all of this firepower for my Social Security and veteran disability clients.  I work with clients at every level of a disability claim.  I work with those who are just starting their disability application and those who have already been denied at a hearing.  Our society wisely invested in the safety net of disability benefits.  Let's work together for your benefits.

The Best Disability Attorney!
David Ashe is the BEST Disability Attorney. I did my research before hiring an attorney and he was even beyond what I expected after learning of his experience and service to our country! His quick responses to my email, compassionate for my situation, understanding and knowledge of the process and how it works. Be patient let him do the work and trust the process. I can say this now looking back. He won my case and I couldn’t be more relieved in what this means for me and my future. Mr. Ashe is the best and I will ALWAYS be grateful for his expertise and service to our country ! Thank you so much and God Bless you always.

The most responsive lawyer I have ever hired
Even though David won two cases for me in the last 10 years, I expect no less of him. I'm less impressed that he won my cases than I am how fast and responsive he is every time I email him. I know how busy he is yet somehow he always makes time for me. His responses are not short and he ALWAYS answers my concerns in writing. He makes me feel like I have value...

Mr. David Ashe Esq
Attorney David Ashe of Alperin Law was a pleasure to work with. He is extremely professional and relatable and I felt, throughout the entire process of applying for disability, that he had my best interests at heart. He even appealed my onset date and was able to get 5 additional months of back pay for me, which was enormously helpful with my finances. Once my disability was approved I felt like I could breathe again. I would highly recommend him to anyone who has struggled with the disability process.

First-Class Attorney for Social Security
My family and I are truly appreciative of being able to work with David Ashe. He really made a positive difference for us, providing regular feedback and assurances, acting as a sounding board, and navigating the SSA system expertly. David was absolutely trustworthy and dedicated to helping us. And after nearly two years of ups and downs with SSA, SSDI was approved! He was able to identify problems and errors along the way, and invested the time and effort to steer the process back on course. He was steadfast and calm throughout and helped tremendously with his focus, care, and expert knowledge of the SSA system. He was amazingly effective, caring, responsive, and supportive, including during these trying pandemic times. We are grateful for David’s efforts. He helped renew our hope for the future. We feel fortunate to have worked with David Ashe and recommend him highly to others.

A Great Choice for a Lawyer
David Ashe has been my attorney for a few years now. When I met him, I was struggling with getting the VA to recognize all my disabilities I had received in the service. They were ok with the black and white disabilities and I received 30%, but I could not manage to fight them on my own. David stepped in and my world changed. He now has me at 70% and working toward 100%. I am finally able to pay my bills and not have the stress of fighting this on my own. I haven't ever met an attorney that is so effective at getting things done. He is one of the most caring individuals that I have ever met. David doesn't ignore your requests and questions. He is very responsive and gets everything taken care of in a very short amount of time. The thing I love the most about David is that he is a lot like me, he never gives up. He has a new strategy every time we get turned down to continue getting us to that final step. David has already promised to help me with my Social Security Disability once we finish with the VA. He only seems to think about the disabled person's needs and not his own personal gain, like a lot of attorneys I've tried and worked with in the past. I urge Disabled Vets to give David a try. I believe they will not only acquire a better and more comfortable life with a lot less stress, but also develop a lasting friendship with a person who is truly there for them.

Effective and Compassionate Representation
I was not confident going into my case that I would qualify for benefits. In our initial consultation, I was reassured by his facility with the claims process and his confidence that my case had merit. Throughout the several-month process, David was responsive to my frequent questions and always had empathetic words of encouragement. Most importantly, he was an effective advocate and we prevailed on the claim. I would wholeheartedly recommend David Ashe.

He helped me when no one else wanted to look at my case
Mr. Ashe was very kind and compassionate in our conversations, he made sure to get all the details. We won our case when I was very unsure that we'd be able to, but the whole way he told me that he believed that we could. I'm very grateful that he took my case as I'm not sure if I'd have won otherwise.

Worth the wait
David Ashe came highly recommend and I can't say enough about how confident, compassionate, and capable he is. He kept us informed on the process, was always available to answer questions and helped calm the anxiety that comes with the long wait. Thank you David for the expert way you handled and won this case

Great, caring lawyer
David believed in me and my Social Security Disability claim from the start! He was very thorough and kept me updated about what was happening. He prepared me very well for the hearing and was very encouraging which eased my nervousness. He was always there for me! Whenever I sent him an email or called him he answered quickly. He is a great lawyer and man. Very caring and considerate. I know that even after the case is finally complete he will always answer my emails. I am so thankful God lead me to him. David is the best!!! PS....I was approved for my disability!!!

David is A One in A Million Kind of Guy!
I just want to lead off with how incredibly happy I am with David and the job he has done for me thus far! I had my original VA disability claim denied years ago. I was obviously super discouraged and thought all hope was lost so I basically gave up on it. In 2018 an old battle buddy of mine linked me up with David. Advertised as a former Marine I knew David would be a man of integrity and a hard worker. He genuinely exceeded those expectations! In less than a years time I just did what he told me to do (write a few statements, go see some doctors etc) he got me a significant rating, monthly checks and back pay! Clearly David is extremely knowledgeable in this area of law and knows how the system works. For me that is more valuable than any other quality in a lawyer. I am extremely grateful to David and highly recommend him to anyone needing representation, especially if you are a veteran!

Knowledge is POWER and Ms. Ashe has the POWER
After listening to my issue with the VA Disability division, Mr. Ashe initiated the process of a new claim for evaulation of what I felt was an underrated total disability. Within days I was contacted by the VA and scheduled into several different clinics outside of the VA. These contracted providers completed exams and my total disability claim exceeded anything that I could have fought for and achieved and Mr. Ashe is not through. Mr. Ashe intends to counter one of the percentages in a very specific area and feels 100% disability is not possible but probable.

Thank you
There's alot I could say about Mr. Ashe. He was the only lawyer that would take on my friends case. She had been waiting since 2016 to be approved for SSDI and with Mr. Ashes help she won her case. Thank you so much for your help, your patience and understanding. Trina and Brie.

Knows his job!
Mr. Ashe was clear in setting our expectations of what to expect and he communicated clearly what we needed to do to ensure a positive outcome. He answered questions and explained procedure in a very reasonable way. His availability is sometimes challenging, but when you reach him he is extremely helpful.

Lazy!!!
Ashe is lazy. He depends on the clients to do his work. He lost my case, and then proceeded to give me bad legal advice. I now have new attorney.

The one who doesn't care
David took my SSDI case promising its a winner case. However, he was running behind entire process and was not even able to collect my medical records on time. My hearing was postponed and soon after my claim was denied. I have been out of job for 4 years due to illness. This man does not care. Stay away from him.
Response from David Ashe April 3, 2021
Natalya, I do not understand this review. I was never behind. We obtained all of your medical records. Your hearing was not postponed. You and I worked closely together on every aspect of your case. We discussed the pre-hearing brief I filed and prepared thoroughly for the hearing. I was deeply dismayed at the judge's unfavorable decision and filed an appeal immediately. You and I have remained in steady, friendly communication since March 2020 when you first contacted me. We exchanged standard, friendly emails less than 12 hours ago about the pending appeal. Again, I truly do not understand this review.

Little to no responses to telephone & email messages.
Mr. Ashe agreed in March 2019 to accept my case for Veterans Administration Disability claims. Although he filed one form with the VA he repeatedly failed to return telephone calls made to his office nor answer email inquiries about other aspects of the case. After 4 months he sent me a letter of withdrawal with a vague reference of rapport problems. In my opinion, the real issue is that Mr. Ashe was unwilling to fully engage with my case and did not wish to spend the time to devote to the case needed. The VA has a one year appeal time window. Mr. Ashe's actions withdrawing after more than three months has robbed me of 25% of the time to fully appeal VA actions. It is bad enough that Veterans have such a difficult time dealing with the VA that they must employ attorneys to guide them through the bureaucratic maze, it is adding insult to injury when one of those attorneys takes more than three months to decide he can't handle the matter!
