Inconsistent advice

I had an employment dispute with a former employer and brought my documentation to Ms. Branch, she stated her retainer fee and provided consultation. Ms. Branch clearly verbalized that I had a solid case and stated her retainer fee. The next day, after I met with my employer, I called Ms. Branch and... she again stated her retainer fee and said that we could not move further with the case until I paid her the retainer fee. When I got home and checked the mail, there was a letter mailed on the date of our consultation meeting from Ms. Branch stating that my case was strong enough for her to pursue. I am accepting of Ms. Branch's letter and viewpoint, but the letter was a direct contradiction to Ms. Branch's verbal statements to me before and after she consulted me and sent her letter to my address.

I am sorry that you felt that the advice that you received was inconsistent. It is always this firm's goal to provide the best advice based on the facts presented at the consultation. As a practice, a letter is sent to all consults to generally memorialize the information given to each consult and what it would take in order to become a client of the firm. Each consult is informed that a free follow up call is available should there be any additional questions or concerns about representation and one still remains available to you. I wish you the best of luck moving forward.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
