Karin Riley Porter

After being charged with three class 1 misdemeanors and speaking to numerous attorneys, I came across Karin Porter. I called her law firm and spoke to another attorney before speaking to her, I was very impressed with her knowledge of the court process and also the possible outcomes she predicted. Sh...e was caring, informative, and professional; Karin was not intimidating and she did not try to scare me into retaining her (like other attorneys I spoke to did) which was something I appreciated. Karin told me that my case was certainly worth fighting for rather than just accepting whatever plea is given. I decided to retain Karin because her past experience as a Prosecutor made her stand out from all the other attorneys I spoke to. Although I was told up front by the firm's receptionist that Karin would charge $500-$1000 more than other attorneys in her firm I did not let that stop me from retaining her. (I strongly recommend not letting any amount of money prevent you from retaining the right attorney for your charges) Each attorney I spoke to mentioned that at the first court date the case would most likely not be resolved because the first court date is the first time all of the evidence is able to be reviewed be the attorney. I felt scared and nervous going into the court room. Karin was constantly in and out of the room getting as much information and evidence on my case as she could the day of court. She also made sure to inform me of everything she was doing on the court date, she kept me up to date on any new information she received or a new strategy that she planned to execute. Karin was ready to go to trial on the first court date with all of the information she gained. Karin was also always available incase I had any questions and she was constantly guiding me and providing me with advice regarding what to do and what not to do in court. Ultimately Karin was able to convince the prosecutor to have all three of my charges dismissed at the first court date! This result was one I did not expect to occur especially on the first court date. I can not express my appreciation and thankfulness for Karin's work on my case! I would certainly recommend her for any criminal defense charges anyone is facing. Karin mentioned that she had not dealt with a case that was just like mine as a criminal defense attorney and she was still able to achieve the best possible outcome yet so I would strongly recommend her!! Although I hope to never need the services of an attorney again I would certainly retain her again if I am ever faced with any charges. Overall, Karin is a great attorney who is not only realistic and caring, but one who will do her very best to reach the best outcome she can without settling for anything less!

Karin has been my lawyer for the better part of two years. She is hard working and very dedicated to my case. Initially I hired her because she physically fit the bill for what I was looking for in a defense attorney - beautiful, well dressed, seemed smart, appeared to be a go-getter, etc.... I knew Karin from where I worked, and I already knew that she was an excellent attorney. I was facing a false obstruction of justice charge in Fairfax County, and I needed a very good attorney to properly fight this. I knew Karin was the right person to call. She said “Your honor we are here, we have witnesses, and we do not want to continue this case.” The Judge ended up dismissing the charges… and I was totally relieved. Karin fought so hard for me, and we won, and now I can get this this expunged too! Karin was amazing, and for one minute I did not think she would ever tell me to do the wrong thing. Karin is an excellent criminal defense attorney and I would recommend her to anyone.
