I met John Riely days before Christmas of 2016, my family was given his name by a family friend but also a former client. BEST word of mouth referral ever! As I was leaving for work that day, I realized that my long-time boyfriend, daughter's father's truck was still parked right outside the house..., but he had left for work a few hours earlier, or so I thought. It was weird for his truck to still be there but sometimes, he would carpool so it didn't alarm me at first. It wasn't until I was leaving for work that I looked inside and saw, his lunch, coat, work boots, etc., I looked around and there was no sign of him, started calling him and no answer, called his co-worker, no sign of him there either. Now I'm freaking out and decide to drop my daughter off at daycare and come back home to look for him. As I was driving back home, my phone rings and it's a Baltimore number, and this is where our nightmare began. At 4:30 am, as G was leaving for work, ICE was right outside our house waiting for him. With Deportation proceedings from many years back, out future was uncertain. More than anything, it was our daughter that concerned me the most, her 4th B-day was less than 2 wks away and like any little girl, G is the apple of her eye, her prince charming and they have a special bond. My daughter also has medical problems which stem from birth and without G's help, support both financially and emotionally, this all would have more than difficult. I had no idea what was going to happen, until my sister and I went to meet with John in the early afternoon that same day. I was a crying, nervous mess and my sister did most of the asking, but John was very direct, straight and to the point and did not sugarcoat anything at all. Did he say this case was going to be easy? NO! Did he make any guarantee as to the outcome? NO! But he did say that he would work tirelessly for us and for my little girl to have her Daddy back at home as soon as possible.
