David A Martella

I have been litigating cases in Maryland for almost 20 years, although sometimes I am called on to represent clients in other states as well.   During law school, I gained valuable appellate and criminal investigation experience at the Office of the Maryland Attorney General.   After graduating in 1993, I was law clerk to the Honorable Paul H. Weinstein.  I then served four years as an Assistant State's Attorney in Montgomery County Maryland.    I prosecuted cases on the District Court proseution team, juvenile team, and felony trial team.   Since 1999, my practice has focused on criminal defense, licensing and administrative hearings, personal injury claims, and various types of civil litigation.    I am a member of the Maryland State Bar and the Federal Bar.   I am also a member of the Maryland State Bar Character Committee which is responsible for screening prospective lawyers who are seeking to become members of the Maryland Bar.   My firm represents individuals charged with everything from minor traffic tickets to murder.   When we are not defending someone is a serious felony case, I am also in court every week of the year defending someone charged with DUI, and other relatively serious misdemeanors.   We like to try cases.    I often say: "If we work out an agreement that resolves your case in a favorable manner, you will really like us; but if we take your case to trial and win, you will think we worked a miracle for you."   I am very proud of the work we have done to put people's lives back together by either putting an end to a legal campaign against them, or by getting the legal system to work for the benefit of the client.   We also assist many clients with a wide variety of difficulties before they become legal problems.
