Divorce could be a long, tedious and stressful process. If you get served that court paper from your spouse out of blue, it'd turn your normal life into a nightmare very quickly. By chance and by luck, I hired Ms. Lay to represent me, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made.... She's knowledgeable, insightful and caring. She guided her client every step of the way through the long ordeal. She earned the respect of her client, and she definitely deserve it. I searched for the right lawyer and was having trouble finding the right one. Sakhouy was HIGHLY recommended from a dear friend. I called her law office and spoke with her for a good 15 minutes about the situation I was in. ALL cases are important, but this was a family court matter involving custody... of my son. She never made me feel like she was rushing me and was extremely empathetic with me. So we set up an appointment. I met with Ms. Lay at her office in Rockville, which was very nice and professional. I described more in detail about my case and expressed my concerns. She listened intently, made notes, waited patiently as I poured out my heart about my son and my worries. When I was finished with all the information that I found necessary, it was her turn to talk, and she did not disappoint. She immediately put me at ease and explained how and why I had NOTHING to worry about... She told me what OUR strategy would be and how to proceed in my communications with my son's mother. Did I mention that it was a free consultation? And that it lasted 45 minutes? As soon as I stood up, I felt the weight of stress and worry had been lifted, I left her office feeling confident, best feeling in the world! She worked with me on payments (which were very reasonable) and she ALWAYS made herself available for me, answering all of my questions and consistently putting me at ease. She was punctual and handled her business VERY well in court AND out. She seemed to have a very good relationship with the judges and attorney's. That proved to be very helpful. She took authority in the courtroom and commanded a win... I was ECSTATIC!!! I followed her instructions to a tee and it paid off! Hopefully it won't be necessary, but God forbid, if I EVER need another lawyer, I would LOVE to attain her services! I contacted Sakhouy Lay for help with a child support case. From the very beginning, she was very supportive, taking time to understand my situation. Sakhouy made my first experience with a lawyer extremely pleasant. For my traffic violation, she quickly understood what happened and what needed to be done, even offering advice on other violations I had. She dealt with a lot of the case without me being bothered at all, just giving me updates, it w...as great. At court, she walked me through everything and gave so much insight to me, it was clear she loves her job and gets excited about this stuff. I didn't really have to do anything besides show up. Her prices were pretty much right in the ballpark of what I expected to pay for everything as well. The case outcome went as she originally predicted it would. Here is a funny story too about how nice Sakhouy is - So when we were at court, a guy recognized her from her card (which was given to him from her mother). He was there without representation, and she quickly became curious about his case and then offered to help him right there on the spot. Within about 20 minutes she had filled out all this paperwork for him, got him a speedy trial and probably saved him a ton of time and money all because he happened to know her mom. It was a very fun experience that I did not expect in a court room, and I don't think I've seen a happier guy because of the help she gave.
