Most competent counsel I've ever retained.

I unfortunately have had to retain legal counsel a few more times than I care to admit in my life. I have been burned in the past by lawyers that will take a flat fee and provide a resolution that makes their work load easier, as opposed to looking out for their client's best interests. This was mo...st certainly not the case when I retained the counsel of attorneys William "Ben" Mann, and Caleb Kershner. I can easily call them "the dynamic duo"when talking about representation in Loudoun County. I had contacted Mr. Mann just 6 days prior to my hearing, his response to my e-mail was prompt and professional. He stayed in constant communication with me until he had a full grasp on my circumstances. Mr. Mann gave me an honest evaluation and took the time to listen to my whole situation. It was not black and white to him, he understood the nuances that made my case specific to me, and gave me real expectations, while keeping my goals in mind. That following Monday, he had been booked with another case, since I contacted on such short notice. He sent his partner in his stead, Mr. Caleb Kershner, Mr. Kershner had been fully briefed, and came prepared to the courthouse as if he had done my intake himself. He thoroughly investigated my record, and payments to the courthouse, before stepping into the conference room to talk terms with the prosecutor. I was facing a third driving on suspended, a charge that carried a ten day mandatory minimum jail sentence, a 6 month re-suspension of my license, that I had restored in the meantime, and possibly a violation of my probation that could have resulted in me serving any portion the court seemed fit of the 2 and a half years prison sentence still hanging over my head. With Mr. Kershner's knowledge of Virginia's statutes, and an amazing relationship worth every penny I paid, and more, with the arresting officer and prosecutor, he came out with a deal that ended up with a reduced charge. But that still wasn't good enough for Mr. Kershner, he worried the misdemeanor they offered me could still effect my probation, and after calling my supervising officer himself, and confirming that it may, he went back to the table for me. He came back out with the charge ultimately reduced to a traffic offense, the equivalent of a speeding ticket. There was no jail time, no re-suspension of my license, no misdemeanor on my record, and no effect on my probation! This was an outcome I didn't imagine even in my wildest of dreams of scenarios. I walked into court that day prepared to walk away in cuffs, and Mr. Mann and Mr. Kershner had me walking out of there singing the lord's praises. If I could give this team of young, intelligent, competent, and ambitious attorneys 6 stars out 5, I would. They are worth every penny and more, and I will always recommend them to anyone who I come across that needs legal counsel. If you're worried about paying a large retainer fee for an outcome that will be no better if you walk in there alone, worry no more, and hire Simms Showers LLP, and make sure you ask for attorneys William "Ben" Mann and Caleb Kershner.

I HIGHLY recommend him without ANY hesitation!!

Never in my wildest thoughts did I expect to be in need of a defense attorney, but as it happened, I found myself in need of one. After exhaustive research and almost a dozen consultations with different attorneys/firms, I retained the firm Simms Showers (and William “Ben” Mann) to represent me. I... found Ben to be very patient, approachable and detail oriented. He impressed me with his ability to understand my case in great detail - not just the facts of the case - but also the many subtle nuances (which was often missed by previous attorneys). He identified the weak areas of our case and built a strong defense against them, simultaneously, he was great at identifying holes in the opposition's case and exploiting them very effectively. From the very beginning Ben was prompt and attentive in all our communications. He guided me through every step of the process which helped alleviate my anxiety. He examined and explored EVERY angle/aspect of the case to ensure there are no surprises. I call him Mr. Never-Misses-Anything. Another area of strength that I want to highlight… Ben was EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD at preparing me for trial day and going over my testimony. He conducted several rounds of mock cross-examinations which went a long way to help me handle the strenuous interrogation by the opposing attorney. Needless to say, we destroyed the opposition’s case and received a verdict in our favor. Part-2 I was so pleased with Ben's work on my first case that I transferred another case of mine from my previous attorney over to him. Once again, Ben's knowledge, experience and skill in the court room were invaluable. Given the last minute change of attorney, Ben didn’t have a lot of lead time to prepare for the case. Despite that, he did a great job getting up to speed very quickly without missing a single relevant detail. He even managed to dig up another almost identical case – from the SAME COURT – with a ruling in our favor, to use as a precedent for our case. That went a long way to winning our case. Most importantly for me, Ben was EXCELLENT in the courtroom. He was quick on his feet, he never wavered in any situation nor backed down against any obstacle. I recall one situation during the trial when the judge sustained an objection from the opposing attorney which prevented us from introducing a critical piece of evidence which was central to our case. At that time, I thought, my case was all but lost, but Ben never gave up or backed down. Despite being shot down repeatedly and having multiple objections sustained against him, Ben stood up to the judge and persevered until he managed to force the judge to reverse her stand and allow us to present the evidence. Needless to say, once again, Ben destroyed the opposing counsel's case and the verdict was completely in our favor. I can confidently say that if I ever need an attorney, Ben is the one I will hire. I highly recommend him without hesitation.

Great lawyer when you need one

Ben Mann was a great lawyer for my needs. I was facing a Fairfax County, VA aggressive driving charge with a previous record of -11 points. He expediently responded to all of the questions and continually reassured me that everything would be OK. I was concerned that I may lose my license which effec...ts my ability to work and keep a security clearance, and he kept my worries at bay. He was there for me whenever I called, and always returned my calls in short order when he could not answer. The day of my court date, my charge was lowered to a simple speeding charge with a $200 fine. If I ever need a traffic lawyer again (or know of friends or family who do), he will be my first call! Thanks Ben, you're awesome!

Professional representation with desired outcome

I did a significant amount of research before hiring. The way Ben followed up with me and approached my case was really great. When I first talked to Ben he laid everything out for me, he seemed extremely intelligent, and gave me all the possible scenarios of my case. After vetting some attorneys,... and consulted with friends, I decided to hire Ben. Now looking back, I am really glad I hired Ben. The other three people that where involved with me had such different results, and it was clear that hiring Ben was the right decision. Ben would text me back with all my questions, he never made me wait for emails or return phone calls. He never gave me short answers, he told me everything and explained the legality of every step of the way. Ben never made any judgments before or after, he was just very professional. I was facing a possession of marijuana charge, and thanks to Ben’s hard work and strategies, my charges where nolle prosequi. I would definitely recommend Ben to anyone who needs an excellent defense attorney in Virginia.

highly recommend

I found Price Benowitz online, and gave the folks there a call. I called later in the evening, and by 9am that very morning I was put in touch with Ben, it was very prompt. I was terrified about these charges that I was facing, and I had a long consult with Ben. Ben was very thorough he went ove...r all the facts and told me what could possibly happen. He was very matter of fact and professional. I decided to hire Ben, and I was so amazed on how prompt he was with my case. I never had to wait very long for any returned calls or emails. I honestly don’t think he even took more than 30 mins to return any of my questions. He never made me feel like I was asking a stupid question, he was very professional. I remember clearly, that after our first meeting he told me. “I will get you through this”, and he did… he got me through it. He made no promises, but I could tell he knew his job very well, I felt safe. I had three court appearances all together, and Ben did most of his work before court. He reached out to the prosecutor beforehand, and took care of everything with me. He was the one who made sure everyone was communicating effectively, and made so many phone calls for me. He was a constant advocate for me and my case, keeping me informed every step of the way. At the end, I was facing two charges, but after three court appearances, and a lot of work (taken care mostly by Ben). I had the absolutely best outcome – the charges were completely dropped. I would recommend Ben to ANYONE who is facing charges in Virginia. My feelings are that I owe him my life right now. I owe him everything. I would have lost my job, my reputation, everything. Ben was amazing, and I am SO thankful for his advice and professionalism during this very rough patch in my life.
