also known as Joanne Yi, Joanne Huikyung Yi
Joanne Yi is a skilled bankruptcy attorney with 16 years of experience. Joanne was born in South Korea and came to the Unites States when she was a freshman in high school. Joanne received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the College of William and Mary. She then went on to receive her master’s degree in sociology from the Virginia Commonwealth University, and her graduate certificate in aging studies from the Medical College of Virginia. Joanne worked in the private corporate world before attending the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. Upon earning her Juris Doctor, Joanne relocated to Chicago, where she practiced bankruptcy law at the largest consumer bankruptcy law firm in the Midwest for 7 years. Joanne went on to join a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee’s office as the associate attorney to the Trustee for a couple of years. Here, she gained the knowledge and experience from the other sides of the bankruptcy table In 2012, before relocating with her family back to Virginia, Joanne joined a Korean American Law Firm to help set up the bankruptcy practice.
Back in Virginia, Joanne worked as a Bankruptcy attorney in the Eastern District. Joanne expanded her practice to include traffic and criminal matters in the Northern Virginia area.
In 2014, Joanne and her law partner opened their own firm, Bristle & Yi Law, PLLC in Manassas VA. With the goal in mind of taking a very direct, no nonsense appraoch to law, Joanne is an attorney who makes sure her clients’ needs and goals are met with the best outcome possible. Joanne has assisted many clients who filed bankruptcy (Chapter 7 or Chapter 13) to seek relief from financial hardship and burden to achieve the relief they so desperatley needed. It is Joannes philosophy that the best working relationship between attorney and client is formed in honest and forthright disclosure.
Joanne's practice is still going strong as she represents clients in the Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria Division, Bankruptcy Court, which encompasses, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Fauquier, Prince William, and Stafford Counties, as well as any other city or twon within the geographical boundaries of those counties.
