So I was facing Charges for driving while drunk in DC and they found my concealed carry (pistol) under my seat and my Virginia License to conceal carry wasn’t recognized by the District of Columbia. But Thankfully Mr. Shawn Sukumar’s amazing Knowledge and experience in his field was able to get the g...un charges dropped and I was able to avoid any jail time (aside from the initial arrest) and in the end had 6 months unsupervised Probation with 90 hours of community service, 12 hours of an alcohol class, online driving safety course, Online MADD course and a 100 fee I believe was it. And after all that the judge signed a Youth act order meaning my conviction was removed from my record. All in all I was very satisfied with the end result of my case. Highly recommend this gentleman, he is very professional and makes sure his clients understand everything and is very good about staying in contact with his clients and keeping them updated. You would Definitely want him representing you if you needed an attorney.

I found Mr. Sukumar to be solidly competent and equally aggressive and client-focused, with a good client manner, all good traits for a criminal defense lawyer – and what a client should be looking for when looking for defense counsel, as I was. Moreover, I found him to be knowledgeable, non-judgme...ntal and completely centered on protecting client rights – someone I would recommend without reservation or hesitation, based on my firsthand experience. My case concerned a potential Federal criminal investigation I'd become emeshed in, which Mr. Sukumar quickly and aggressively got in front of. Those charged with a crime (or who are being investigated or may otherwise put into a tough situation) tend to believe they can talk their way out or explain a situation, even if nothing really is there, so it goes away. That’s naïve, especially facing a trained investigator who can legally say anything to the interviewee, true or false, act friendly and/or minimize potential consequences (e.g., “You have the chance to help yourself . . “) to make their case, which is their goal. Investigators count on your not wanting to be disrespectful, or hang up or say you don't want to talk, which appears suspicious. That same investigator is required to be truthful to an attorney, so, also in my firsthand experience, you want a Shawn Sukumar or someone similarly competent and experienced to be that attorney. I’m fortunate to have gone with Mr. Sukumar. Yes, his hourly rate is high but fully justified in terms of his obvious client dedication and focus, and his aggressively acting to obtain the desired client result. Whether the same positive result would have happened (they backed off) with other counsel is speculation. After our initial meeting, I do know I was able to relax for the first time in several days, confident I was in good legal hands. That confidence turned out to be fully justified.

Shawn glows with congeniality, exudes professionalism, and projects absolute integrity, WALKING THE WALK. On trial day we didn't even have to enter the courtroom, Shawn already had the case dismissed! Now that's results! And then we were blown further away when Shawn informed us the there would be a... partial refund since he got the charges dropped? Wow!! Too many others would never have even mentioned let alone offered such a bonus/windfall. Shawn didn't make promises or excuses, he just executed.
