I was involved in a DUI case where I felt I was not guilty. I spoke with several lawyers in the DC area that wanted me to take a plea. But because I was robbed and that was the reason why I was driving, I felt that this cause should go on my side if I took it to trial. I was facing second degree murder and more than twenty years. David Benowitz represented me. I was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, as well as possession of cocaine. Dave was the first paid lawyer I ever retained. I had used public defender's for a few cases in the past, and I have never been so glad to invest money in a lawyer as I was when I hired Dave. His fees w...ere great. He worked with a payment plan to make sure I could afford to retain him. We had a pretty great case on our hands, but it was by no means a piece of cake. Dave left the prosecutor and the police officers who were witnesses against me absolutely stunned. He easily found key evidence early on that played a huge role in my case. It was amazing to see how exactly what he saw in my case in the beginning was exactly the important points brought up in trial. He definitely has talent. They never knew what hit them. Detail: In October 2009 I was involved in a situation whereby I was assaulted and later a...rrested for a Felony of assault with a deadly weapon. My family called The Law Office of David Benowitz, along with various other offices over the weekend to obtain an attorney for me. This was the ONLY firm to ever call back and quite instantly, beginning to work with my family and I almost immediately. After being in jail for the first time in my life (and in DC of all places) I was a wreck, physically and emotionally injured. All of the fear I felt two days later before my arraignment, Attorney Roseanna Chase approached me that very Monday and relieved so much of the anxiety I felt. After my arraignment I was escorted to her office, the Law Office of David Benowitz, where the legal process began for me. Throughout the next 6 months I worked closely with Roseanna on my case. She kept me updated on the entire process including investigations, court dates, explanations of the many “what next/ what if” questions I often called her about. Roseanna was amazing at keeping me abreast of every detail of procedure and updates of my case from all angles. She has always been firm and honest about my case, never “keeping me in the dark” about anything and always being completely truthful about what I could expect at any point in the process. Later, at my final trial, she was extremely firm and strong in the courtroom. She demonstrated her highly legal mind and experience and showed no fear, alleviating much of my own anxiety and uncertainty. At this trial, where I had pled not guilty to what became of my felony, 2 misdemeanors, Roseanna made a Motion for Judgement of Acquittal and won this motion on both counts. Apparently this rarely and almost never happens, just proving how efficient Roseanna and the Office of David Benowitz really is. She was highly prepared and I felt like I was on a team with her the whole time because she never kept me wondering about what was happening in the Courtroom. She was truly exceptional and efficient in Court. I have seen many attorneys and legal staff throughout my over 6 years of experience working in the legal field, and I have honestly never met a group of attorneys who work so efficiently individually and as a team as this group of attorneys and legal staff. I was never in court by myself, always called, texted and/or emailed often and treated with the utmost honesty, directness and empathy by all of the attorneys and staff I worked with. My case was very uncertain for most of the 6 months, but Roseanna used all of her knowledge and experience to make the judicial process work to its fullest capability. Attorneys David Benowitz and Jason Kalafat also worked with me on several occasions when Roseanna was involved in other trials and matters and they were amazing as well. Also, the staff that I personally worked with including Patrick Henning, Matt Lawson and Marquita Johnson, were and are an indispensable portion of the team. They each aided me at any and every time I called and were nothing but courteous and direct with me. Everyone at this Firm was incredibly exceptional at their professions and I am unable to repay them for the wonderful experience I had with them in this process. They kept me hopeful during one of the most difficult periods in my life where I was suffering physically and emotionally and they never failed to go out of their way at any time to make the process easier.
