Greedy Lawyer

I consulted with Susan, sent her a couple of pages prior to our consult (billed hourly). She overcharged, billing over 2hr when we only spoke for 30min and she was 10min late. She then offered me a contract with 1/2 her hourly rate taking 1/3 of my settlement. For a lawyer who didn't think my case... was strong, she didn't mind taking my money. I consulted with other lawyers, and she was the only one who said my case was not strong. Looks like she can only handle easy cases.

First rate employment lawyer

When I was treated very badly by the law firm I was working at, I contacted Sue as a result of her stellar online reviews and was not disappointed. Sue was very kind and sympathetic during our initial hour long telephone conversation. It was also clear from that conversation that Sue brings a wealt...h of experience to the table and I knew immediately that having Sue by my side would increase the chances of reaching a satisfactory settlement with my employer. I had thought that the case would be resolved fairly quickly, but as it turned out, my employer decided to play hardball. Given that turn of events, I can't think of anyone I would rather have had fighting them on my behalf. After each communication from the other side, Sue thinks strategically about what our next move should be. Sue also thinks creatively - we had some fairly complex issues to navigate that would have intimidated a lesser lawyer; Sue took them in her stride. Once she has decided on her recommended approach, Sue is extremely adept at explaining it. And she doesn't just tell you what you want to hear. She makes sure that she gives her best advice, which I greatly appreciated. Sue has a confident but warm manner and I had total faith in her judgment. That faith paid off when she negotiated a settlement that was far in excess of what I was expecting, particularly given that the firm in question had decided to dig their heels in. Overall, Sue is in absolute pleasure to work with. She is easy to build a rapport with and is clearly at the top of her game professionally. I would add that, as a lawyer myself, I learnt a lot about how to handle clients just by observing the way in which Sue interacted with me. If I ever have an issue again with an employer, Sue would be the first person I would call, and my recommendation to anyone out there who is in the same boat is that you should do so too.

Amazing Attorney

Susan Huhta is an amazing person and attorney! As my attorney, she provided emotional support, stayed in constant contact with me to keep me informed of everything that was going on and became a good friend. She was accessible anytime or day to address problems that I was experiencing on the job d...uring this legal process. My experience during this long and stressful process was less painful due to the professionalism and bedside manner of Ms. Huhta. She took the fear away from seeking legal counsel when you think you are being discriminated against. I am now a strong advocate of seeking legal advice when unfairness occurs in the workplace because of my experience with Ms. Huhta. Ms. Huhta and her associates provided legal guidance that resulted in a fair settlement.

Sue Huhta = Incredible Partner!!!

Yes, you need her! When faced with an incredibly unjust workplace situation, it took me a while before I finally acknowledged that I truly needed to seek professional assistance. And even then, I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted to move forward; somehow I was still trying to digest how I got here, wonderin...g what I’d have to invest of my personal time, energy,$ to address/correct these serious issues since my company chose to take no action. Particularly for an ingoing (anxious) novice like me, Sue Huhta was an incredible partner. She helped me to separate emotion from fact and reassured me that justice needed to be pursued. Most importantly, she helped infuse patience and a strategic outlook to the situation vs looking for just the fastest fix (or giving-up entirely)! I really appreciated her authenticity in how we connected - she is empathetic, candid, extremely experienced and kept me optimistic through several times when I really did just want to give-in and move-on with my life. I am SO grateful that she was my partner. I know we did the right thing for the company, its other employees and certainly for my personal situation. So if you are still in the phase of disbelief that you are even having to read these reviews to potentially hire a lawyer....I know how you feel. I would encourage you to just call Sue and start a conversation. I’m sure she’ll give you a feel pretty quickly for whether she’s the best partner for your situation, or not.

Sue Huhta is my Hero

I engaged Sue to represent me in an employment dispute and could not have been more pleased and satisfied with her work. She knows this field of law inside and out, but that is true for plenty of employment lawyers. What makes Sue stand out so exceptionally in my view is that she keeps a very clear...-eyed and rational view of the client's entire interest: not just the legal issues at play, but also how the matter will impact the client's well-being and ability to move forward. For example, at just the right moments Sue encouraged me to weigh carefully the benefits of settling my case vs. the risks, time it would take, and the ongoing psychic and emotional burdens of continuing to press on in litigation. Because Sue was working on the basis of an hourly fee and NOT on a contingency fee, settling the matter early as opposed to pressing forward clearly would result in less fees for Sue. Nevertheless, there is absolutely no doubt that this factor never entered into the advice and guidance Sue gave me. It was clear to me right from the start that she always had my interest first--and exclusively--in mind. The other quality I admire about Sue and was so grateful for is that she is a fighter in the positive sense. She will not be bullied by the size of a company or organization nor by opposing counsel. She projects confidence and competence, but also can work constructively with opposing counsel to resolve matters. As mentioned above, Sue worked on my matter on an hourly fee basis. Her hourly fee is in line with her position as a partner in a leading employment firm, which could strike potential clients as high. But my experience was that the total of the fees I paid to Sue and her firm represented approximately 8% of the before-tax settlement amount I received from my former employer in this matter. I thought that was very reasonable and I was extremely satisfied. In sum, I highly recommend Sue Huhta and feel incredibly fortunate that she was recommended to me by a friend and that I engaged her to represent me.
