I became involved with Tim Abeel and his law firm regarding my Lemon Law Case in October of 2014. Already at wits end by that time with the problems I’d been having with my vehicle, Tim personally handled my case with the utmost professionalism, attentiveness, and empathy. Leased a 2014 car from a well-known manufacturer. Had problems ever since the beginning. Had an issue within the first month of owning. After the first issue, the car was in an accident. The car was broadsided. All within the 1st month. Then I had the same issue 5 more times within a year and a half.... It turned out to be an evap leak that the dealer never could fully repair. The car was driveable but was becoming a nuisance. Finally I contacted Tim and the process begin. Within 5 months he ended up settling my case out of court. I was having an obvious problem with my brand new car; the dealer and manufacturer claimed they couldn't find anything wrong so there was nothing to fix. Tim was great to work with! We had a recent problem with a brand new 2014 SUV that we leased and had in our possession for about 6 months months. The brakes would sometimes get stuck on while driving, even after you released your foot off the brake. The car would then not allow you to accelerate... . In essence, it was as if an emergency brake was stuck on and there was no way to get it off. This happened many times on our brand new car with under 3,000 miles! After we brought the car in numerous times for service repairs, we were still having these brake and acceleration issues. It was a very dangerous and scary problem, especially since the car was a family car, mainly for my wife and baby. After several attempted fixes by the company, as well as speaking to the car manufacturer's Corporate department ourselves with no resolution, we retained Timothy Abeel to help us and to pursue a claim under the lemon law. Tim was able to get the car manufacturer to settle very QUICKLY, in about 2 weeks after we hired him!! Literally, within days of Tim contacting the car manufacturer, they offered to settle. Days later, we had reached an agreement - we received a full refund for our entire lease, including all fees and lease payments! I leased a brand new $100,000 vehicle from a dealer in NJ for a family member. We reside in NY. The vehicle is made by a German manufacturer (with three letters constituting its name). The family member who drives the vehicle happens to be an attorney and spent countless hours trying to deal with ...the dealership, regional management of the manufacturer, and the manufacturer directly regarding major repair issues. The manufacturer tried to claim that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle despite it being inoperable and repeatedly in service for repair with the same two persistent problems, or slight variations of the two problems. The manufacturer did not act in good faith. I witnessed the car being inoperable in excess of 30 days in the course of approx. two years. When it became clear that the manufacturer was not going to do the right thing and replace the vehicle or terminate the lease, I contacted Tim based on other very positive Avvo reviews. We were in good hands. We will never buy from this manufacturer again, as they have a blatant disregard for safety and could care less about their customers. I am glad that I found Tim, and would recommend him without any reservations. He is kind, professional, knowledgeable, incredibly responsive to client's needs and communications, patient and genuinely concerned about getting a resolution that will keep your family out of danger. He also is not afraid to be aggressive, if the need arises. He is a creative thinker as well. In the legal field, an attorney who is concerned about your safety over making a quick dollar, is few and far between. A few hints to future victims of potential lemons: maintain and keep your repair records; if you have a choice of which state to purchase/lease a vehicle in and you are from the NY tri-state area, take your business to NJ (NJ has much better consumer protection/lemon laws than NY); if you are in a lease and are having multiple repeated repair issues of the same kind, don't delay. Contact Tim so that you will be informed in the event your vehicle qualifies as a lemon, or is on its way to qualifying as a lemon. Do not waste your valuable time dealing with excessive repairs and arrogant manufacturers who think you will tire and just go away.
