Drawing upon extensive years of experience working for prestigious Fortune 500 companies as an employment law adviser and human resources expert, Theresa brings a unique perspective on private sector business and employment law matters for entrepreneurs and small businesses.Â
Theresa counsels and represents employers virtually on federal and state employment and labor related laws and regulations, including but not limited to workplace harassment, discrimination, retaliation, adverse action, and wage and hour issues. She is experienced in conducting workplace training, investigations, and participating in conciliation and fact-findings before state and federal agencies.
Theresa is an accomplished civil trial attorney, in addition to her work representing clients in family and matrimonial disputes. She is also a member of Broome and Tioga County’s 18B panels and actively represents children in these communities.
Prior to starting her firm, Theresa was most recently Clerk to a New York State Supreme Court Justice. She also worked for prestigious local firms doing similar legal work to her firm's practice areas. While attending law school, Theresa worked full-time as a Senior Employment Law and Equal Employment Opportunity adviser in the legal department of a Fortune 500 services and technology company. There, she defended the company against charges of discrimination, managed the employment law litigation docket, provided counsel to all levels of human resources management, and chaired the legal department committee responsible for researching law and updating employee handbook policies, among other responsibilities.
Theresa obtained her juris doctorate from the Widener University School of Law, Evening Law Program and is completing her master’s degree thesis in Organizational Psychology from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA.
Theresa is passionate about serving on the board of directors of Mothers and Babies Perinatal Network, the board of directors of the Broome County Council of Churches, and supporting anti-domestic violence causes. Outside of the office, she enjoys tennis, golf, hiking and camping with her family.
