Mr. Bassett earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Political Science, from Adelphi University in 2009. During his undergraduate studies, he was a multiple-semester President's List recipient and earned Dean's List honors every semester. In 2008, he received the Theodore Caplow Award for Excellence in Criminal Justice, presented to the author of the year's outstanding paper in Criminal Justice. He was also inducted into Theta Chi, the National Criminal Justice Honor Society.
Mr. Bassett received his Juris Doctor from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2013. While attending law school, he served as Secretary and Vice President of the Public Interest Law Organization. Through Touro's Public Advocacy Center, he represented indigent landlords and tenants in housing matters. He also served as a pro bono student advocate with the Federal Defenders of New York in Central Islip, assisting in the defense of individuals charged with federal crimes who could not afford legal representation.
Following law school, Mr. Bassett served as an attorney with the Suffolk County Legal Aid Society, where he managed a substantial and demanding criminal defense caseload. In this role, he represented clients charged with a broad range of criminal offenses, with a particular emphasis on driving while intoxicated (DWI) and domestic violence cases. He regularly appeared in court, litigated pretrial motions, negotiated with prosecutors, and conducted bench and jury trials on behalf of his clients.
Dedicated to continually refining his courtroom advocacy, Mr. Bassett graduated from the prestigious New York State Bar Association Trial Academy at Cornell University. There, he trained under some of New York's most accomplished trial attorneys, further developing his skills in jury selection, opening statements, direct and cross-examinations, evidentiary advocacy, and closing arguments.
Mr. Bassett is an experienced trial attorney who has represented clients facing charges ranging from misdemeanors to the most serious felony offenses, including murder. His extensive courtroom experience enables him to develop strategic defenses, effectively advocate before judges and juries, and provide clients with confident representation at every stage of the criminal justice process.
Mr. Bassett is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
He is an active member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. Through his practice, Mr. Bassett remains committed to protecting the constitutional rights of his clients while providing knowledgeable, responsive, and results-driven legal representation.

Client paid amount of the item that was destroyed, in return the client received an ACD on all charges avoiding adding charges to their criminal record. .
Vacated all defaults and avoided client paying case opening fee of $75 for each ticket. Negotiated speed, to failure to yield- three (3) points. Remaining tickets to jaywalks. FInes were reduced to $653. The client was able to keep their license.
Successfully settled the $3,400 debt for $840 and timely released their bank account

Pled to disobeying a traffic control device. $175.00 fine and ZERO points
Full unemployment benefits acheived
Both VTL 1152-C violations were dismissed. Negotiated the VTL 1180-D speed down to a disobeying a traffic control device which carries a liability of $268 and only two (2) points on their driver's license.
Negotiated a plea to a littering violation. Avoiding a criminal record.
Pleaded to a traffic ticket. Fine was $400 and ZERO (0) points on their driver's license
