After receiving a speeding ticket by state police in Suffolk County, NY, in November of 2012, I decided to find a lawyer to represent me. After speaking with several law firms, and being told, quite often, "Mr. or Mrs. Z will get back to you," I contacted Mr. Kapp and got to speak directly with him,... with no intervening secretaries to take all my information (and give me little back). He had my ticket reduced from an 80 mph speeding violation (on the LIE with its 55 mph speed limit) to a *parking ticket.* No insurance headaches to contend with, and no points on my license hanging over my head! Mr. Kapp's fees were reasonable and consistent with or lower than other attorneys I had spoken with, and he kept his word on that. The degree to which he expedited the ticket and my case and again, his responsiveness to me (e.g., returning calls and emails, mailing information), were unexpected, welcome, and, I imagine, highly unusual. I met Dave after scouring the internet for a traffic lawyer I felt would be able to represent me to the fullest. Well after the fact, I feel like Dave did exactly that. He kept me informed after every single court date and made me feel very comfortable from the second I called him until the end of my... case. He was very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the law as well as the specific court houses on Long Island. He was also very nice and easy to talk to and answered all my questions throughout my year and a half speeding altercation promptly whenever I would randomly decide to call or email him. In the end I was up against a 6 point speeder in the Hauppauge TVB with a cop who was definitely showing up considering we had a bitter exchange during the ticketing. Dave was very upfront about the possible outcomes and ultimately he was able to get me a 2 point reduction on the grounds that the cop was driving a vehicle that did not have its speedometer calibrated. I am very very happy because had I represented myself like I did the last time, I would have surely been charged with the full 6 points and would have most likely gotten my CDL suspended.
