Biography
Ms. Yunus is the Principal Attorney and Owner at Yunus Law. Her practice focuses exclusively on U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law. Afia assists employers and employees with accomplishing employment-based immigration goals. These include business and professional visas, student visas, PERM and temporary labor certifications, investor visas, and consular representation. Afia also represents individuals in family–based immigration matters, including Green Card applications, family based immigrant and non-immigrant petitions, consular processing assistance, and citizenship matters. Afiamaintains an active deportation and removal defense practice, including representation in EOIR individual and master calendar hearings and in filing various applications for relief from deportation.
Afia received her B.A. degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2007. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and received Dean’s Honors List distinction every semester. She earned her J.D. degree, Cum Laude, from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2010 with a Certificate in Public Interest Law. At Chicago-Kent, she was awarded the CALI award, Dean’s Certificate of Service Award, and was on the Dean’s Honor List. She is admitted to practice law in Illinois and before the Northern District of Illinois Federal District Court.
Afia is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association (AILA).
Mrs. Yunus speaks fluent Urdu and understands Punjabi.

I would not recommend Afia to anyone. I hired her to bring my mother in law to the United States and we paid her to do so. Replied last May 02, 2017William, I'm sorry you feel this way, but I must clarify that you never hired me. You and I never had an attorney-client relationship nor ever spoke about your mother-in-law's case so you don't have the accurate facts. All of my conversations were with your wife, who was my client. The Embassy denied your mother-in-law's visitor visa because she could not demonstrate ties to the U.S., NOT because there was an incomplete application. I followed up with the Embassy immediately after the denial and they told me your mother-in-law was denied because the officer was not convinced she would return to her home country and I forwarded their response immediately to your wife. I also called your wife and spoke to her in depth about why her mother's visitor visa was denied, which had nothing to do with an incomplete application. Moreover, I emailed both your wife and the Embassy a copy of the DS-160 application, which was a complete application. You wouldn't know any of this, as you were not my client and were not privy to our conversations. All of my current and past clients can testify to my responsiveness and accessibility during all hours and days. I take special care to make each client feel as if they are my only client and respond to emails, calls, and texts within a timely manner. All of the other reviews make this clear. I took special care to advise your wife several times that the visitor visa is a discretionary benefit and it is entirely within the consular officer's discretion to approve or deny. Contrary to what you claim, I worked diligently and professionally with your wife and answered her calls and emails. I encourage you to read all of my other reviews as evidence of my work.
