I met Ted Deignan 10 years ago, as a neighbor. Soon after that, I began having trouble with my landlord and the new commercial business in the building, directly below me. The business was abusing the space with loud music and customers, partying every night as well as violating residents privacy an...d building areas. They had removed the ceiling and insulation in the space, leaving no sound protection between my bedroom/bathroom area, leading me to be able to hear them clearly. Both my landlord and the tenant were unwilling to do anything to fix the situation, and both sets began harassing me in several ways. As I explained this to Ted, he offered his services as a tenant landlord attorney, recommending that I get legal council to fix the situation and protect my rent stabilized apt. He offered great advice and guidance to what would become a nearly 3 year case. He gave me clear instruction in what my role in the case should be, such as contacting the police when needed, keeping records of situations concerning noise and any interactions, documenting text messages and getting this information to him. As this case went on, it became stressful for me. I was surrounded by it - the noise and the daily threat of harassment from my landlord, the tenant and his employees. I called in desperation on a Friday afternoon with my move scheduled for Monday morning, Ted worked through the weekend for me negotiating with my landlord we came to an agreement on Sunday and I was able to move out Monday morning. Ted Diegan is your man especially if you reside in the Brooklyn area and need a L&T attorney. He took on my rent control eviction case and diligently saw it through to a positive conclusion. Over the course of almost 2 years the other side went through multiple teams of heavy weights and various nast...y approaches, Ted swatted them down at every turn and never waivered. Patient, honorable and very knowledgable about his specific field I'd never hesitate to recommend him.

This is the guy to go to when your landlord sends his sleazy lawyers after you. He has saved me thousands, and keeps my mean, litigious landlord at bay. He's a pit bull, tenacious, fearless. I had to go to court at least 5 times over rent issues in a 4 month period. My landlord insisted I owed a... month back rent, we kept going back and forth on this matter. Finally I hired "Teddy" and he quickly pointed out that my lease was not even valid, and I had been overpaying for months. His impact was immediate. The case was settled on the spot.
