Avoid this lawyer and his firm.

I hired his law firm on May 7 relying on AVVO rating but totally regretted afterward. I have a bad tenant who paid just 1 month rent and never vacated an apartment he has been subletting from me. Robert R. after speaking with tenant's lawyer convinced me he made an agreement that the tenant would va...cate the apartment by May 31, and in return I need to pay his firm's fee and wave all tenant's debts. Despite the difficult decision, I agreed and paid $550 fee. In 2 weeks time I called his office and asked whether the agreement was signed by other party and Edward Hall, one of the lawyers in his firm, confirmed that they did, but on my personal visit on May 21 I found out that they never did. When I asked why they misinformed me Robert yelled at me, was extremely rude, verbally abused and refused to communicate. I had to communicate via Edward Hall most of the time going forward. On June 11 I called the law firm to confirm whether the tenant vacated the apartment according to agreement and Robert said that he did and I should go and collect the apartment keys, but when I came to the apartment the tenant was still there and attacked me with the knife saying that he will never leave. I had to call 911 to protect myself and the tenant got arrested. I found out that Robert never got in touch with the tenant or his lawyer to find out if the apartment was vacated. He put me and my life at risk. When I asked and complained in regards to this matter he simply said that other party broke their promise and I immediately need to pay other fees for eviction warrant, as well as a motion for the money judgment, because the process takes 4-6 weeks. I paid another $700 for these on June 12 and in a 3 weeks time I called to law office to find out that they never processed with eviction warrant and motion yet, so I lost so much time again. Likewise, Robert and law office reaction was as if it was normal. Later, despite I told them that I would be away from the country, eventually, after a long time, they scheduled the court hearing date exactly when I am not present in the country. This was the last drop and I fired his law firm on September 12. Since I hired Robert and his law firm, in the period of more than 5 months, he could not provide the service he promised, constantly lied, insulted me, verbally abused, violating the Rules of Professional Conduct, breaching the professional ethics and morals, so now I am filing a complaint to Grievance Committee.

The client expected me to get the tenant our in 30 days which was impossible. The client was completely unreasonable and he blamed my office for the delays in an eviction process. He never did file a grievance against me as I did nothing improper. He did not pay my bills and I was forced to sue him to get paid and I won the lawsuit against the client for the unpaid legal bills

Be careful on thouse reviews!

As a landlord I did not find them very professional and helpful. It seemed like they were working for my tenant. All they want to make a deal with my tenants (instead of going for trial)which was cost me 3 months unpaid rent plus their fees. it was very simple holdover case. I was misled by all ...this great reviews.

I find it very strange that we have over 30 excellent reviews from clients who identify themselves but the only negative review we have ever received on AVVO is anonymous. Could this be a jealous competitor? Nevertheless, some tenants simply do not have the rent or refuse to pay any rent. You can not get blood from a stone. In a case that the tenant refuses to pay the rent, the eviction will be quicker (i.e. 3 months instead of 6) but clearly the review here (if it is real) states that we did evict the tenant so the landlord was successful in winning the case but did not collect any rent. Some landlords simply do not understand that the nature of the beast in housing court is that some tenants simply do not pay rent and that is why we evicted the tenant. If this is from a real client, I am sorry that the client did understand the difficulty of landlord tenant Court in the City of New York. By the way, if the landlord would have waited for a Trial on this matter, the Court is so overloaded that it would have taken another 3 months until a Judge was available to have a Trial on this matter and then obtaining and serving a warrant of eviction and the landlord would have lost another 3 months.
