Just Perfect

I am going to add my voice to the rising chorus singing the praises of bankruptcy attorney Jay Simon. Mr. Simon prepared a chapter 7 petition for me a few months back. Dealing with him was a wonderful gift. It was a pleasure working with him. He is so nice. He is just a true gentleman whose i...nnate decency and kindness came through. Just a pure joy. His office is charming. It felt like home to me. Just so warm and comforting, much like Mr. Simon himself. Where some offices are austere, cold or even shabby, his is inviting. A mixture of modern with vintage touches that exude warmth and comfort. I especially love the Brooklyn and NY pictures. I was totally jealous and wished I had an office decorated like his! I want to make special note of the many caring touches. Various candies and cookies all over for clients. I truly felt like a kid in a candy store. Also there are thoughtful touches like a box of toys for client's kid to play with while mom and dad discuss business. I don't even have kids and I thought this was such a small, but great, caring idea that you don't see elsewhere. Another point about his office: he has the most comfortable armchairs for clients to sit in while discussing their cases. So relaxing, I didn't want to leave. I felt like I was in a friend's nice living room, not a bankruptcy attorney's office. Mr. Simon treats clients like friends, not just another client or, worse, dollar signs. He was there to help me through a difficult time in my life. He made the process very easy. Not just me, while I was there, I overheard phone conversations with others. Pure patience, understanding, kindness and caring in every phone call. Mr. Simon does not have some snotty, maybe inexperienced, overworked, disinterested secretary/assistant doing the grunt work, half-heartedly. No, Mr. Simon prepares your petition himself. He doesn't rush you through. Very considerate of how you are doing while going through the process. Repeatedly stopping to ask how I was doing and offer encouragement. I am sure doing a bankruptcy petition is common for him, but he has the human touch to know it is a big deal for his clients. He showed concern for me as a person. He was also very conversational and relaxing and fun to talk to. I felt like I was having a great lunch with a friend rather than talking to an attorney. He went out of his way to explain what he was doing, what was going on and why certain things were being asked of me. He also gave step by step instructions in person, in writing, in emails and reminder calls. Nothing was left uncovered. All the extras must cost him time and money, but he cared that my experience be smooth and easy as possible and it was. What bankruptcy attorney would you offer to actually buy a gift only to be told that it wasn't necessary and that his "gift" was my new start? Just nice! One last thing. Price. His fee was so much more reasonable then another attorney I previously visited. She wanted to charge double and wouldn't file until I paid in full by Paypal. Based on her, I expected Mr. Simon, by charging less, was going to do a bad job, take my money and not file the papers, hold me up for more money, something. The opposite was actually true. I was more interested in paying him then he was in getting paid. It is just silly to pay more for something then you need to pay. I paid less and got more; way more. Just wow. Just wonderful. Just one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. Just perfect.

EXCELLENT, KIND LAWYER

Never in my life did I see myself filing bankruptcy. I've been working since my early teens, always had money, and was debt free my entire life. Since 1997, I've been self-employed. Business was booming, until two years ago when the recession struck. I went through my entire life savings keeping ...my business alive. I no longer could afford health insurance, and last summer was hospitalized for a week, needed emergency surgery, and couldn't work for several months. For the first time in my life, I was flat broke and in debt. The hospital and credit card companies called me from morning until night. I didn't know where to turn, and realized I needed to file bankruptcy. After interviewing four bankruptcy attorneys, I choose Jay Simon, and that was the best decision I made. Jay immediately took action in handling my case and was well-prepared in the court room; because of that, all went smoothly. Jay is a kind-hearted, empathetic and compassionate man. Filing bankruptcy was one of the hardest things I've ever done and Jay got me through this difficult time. If you are in need of a bankruptcy attorney, run - don't walk - to Jay Simon. Jay is the best.

Genuinely Wonderful Person AND Attorney

Bankruptcy is not supposed to be a positive event in one's life. But I've have been blessed to have worked with a wonderful attorney named Jay Simon during my bankruptcy. Mr. Simon definitely falls into that category of genuinely wonderful people you sometimes come across in one's life and I feel l...ucky to have hired him and to know him. He is sweet, nice, warm, honest, generous, kind, genuine, compassionate and caring. What more could one ask for in a bankruptcy attorney or a person in their lives? It really was a positive, happy experience working with this amazing attorney. I actually enjoyed (relatively speaking, of course) spending time with him and going through the bankruptcy process. It was both a privilege and a pleasure to have worked with him. And, no, please believe me, I am not exaggerating in the slightest. Probably the only person I have ever hired who I actually wanted to pay more than I was charged! I even sent him a thank you card to show my appreciation (something that I would not normally do, but I felt it was much deserved) and this review is my small way of saying thanks again. Hire him and you will see what I mean. Good luck to Mr. Simon and all his future clients who might read this, if anyone does read this. God bless you Mr. Simon. Thanks!

The People's Bankruptcy Attorney

I am not someone who bothers to post reviews of products online, especially for something like an attorney. But this particular attorney was so wonderful/good, that I am going to break my own "rule" and write my first online review ever. So here goes some random thoughts: There are not too man...y attorneys like Jay Simon. He really is the nicest man, ever. So real, very personable, a great guy; inherent goodness. He has the "personal touch" and a real commitment to clients. I really don't think of him first as an attorney, but as a person. What I am trying to say is that I have great appreciation for him as both a person and as an attorney. If I had a son, I would want him to grow up to be like Jay Simon. He is a kind, genuine big-hearted fellow, who truly cares about people and fortunately, one of those people was me!

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I endorse this lawyer. Why? When you have a question, he gives you an answer as if you were across his desk so you understand the law, your options, and the answer to your question. Sometimes on AVVO we see answers to questions that in essence just say to see an attorney which is ok..as that is the ultimate answer. But this attorney will go beyond and try and fully and completely and in my view accurately answer it. Is that not the type of attorney you want? I would hope so and for that reason I endorse him."
