People Matter

Most of you are going to roll your eyes at a review of a bankruptcy attorney that includes the idea of “saintliness.”  In the case of Jay Simon, such high praise is deserved.  Jay Simon is literally an angel who fell from heaven; a gift from God.    I knew Jay was perfect after my first appointmen...t; I knew I had not only chosen the right attorney but that I had come across one of the better human beings on the planet.  Jay is more than a bankruptcy attorney; he was my counselor, my coach, my cheerleader.  Jay has a sense of kindness and generosity to him.  He was very gracious and friendly and a genuinely warm person.   Jay tries and succeeds in creating a more personal and family-like atmosphere for his clients.  Once you meet with him for the first time, 10 minutes later you feel like you are friends.  He is always positive, always supportive, always caring.  Jay is very attentive to the needs of every one of his clients.  He makes sure everyone of his clients and everything is taken care of.  He treated us as if we were the most important people in his life. Jay really makes a point of going out of his way to be kind and make gestures filled with kindness.  Jay cared for me in a very kind way.  A few examples: While preparing the petition he would talk to me in a calm soothing manner about what was happening, telling me everything about what he was doing and what was going on. He repeatedly stopped and made sure I was comfortable, that I understood things and ask if I had any questions.  After I was filed, he wrote an informative instruction letter for me.  Any question I had, he answered.  He answers his phone personally and is quick to respond to emails.  As a courtesy, he met with me in his office prior to my creditors meeting then escorted me to my court meeting.  Throughout the proceeding,he sent emails updating me about everything in my case, from the filing, to the trustee filing his report, to my getting a discharge.  In addition, he sent reminders prior to the meeting date and instructions about doing the debtor education course.  After I got my discharge, he first called me to inform me that I had received it and then he sent a lengthy advice letter that included a little note thanking me for choosing him to be my attorney and wishing me good luck in life. Jay is magic, a wonderful, adorable person who made my bankruptcy go easy and smooth.  He is also humble, and always treats others with kindness and respect.  When we parted after my meeting, I wanted to stay and hug him and tell him how amazing he was, but I was too embarrassed to do so. The amount of love I have for this man and the job he did for me is insane.  I felt so smothered in support, love, and care that I couldn’t help but smile and hope to repay the favor in some small way.  Jay, thank you for working with me. You are the kindest and coolest and it was and honor.

Fresh Start with Heart

I am a big fan of Jay Simon’s. How can you not love Jay Simon? He affected my life in the most meaningful of ways. He got me my fresh start and he has a real heart. Jay is an awesome bankruptcy attorney and person. He is one of the sweetest guys in the world. He is adorably caring and conscient...ious. I think Jay is funny, genuine, quick witted, smart, and dear. He is perfection. I could feel the warmth in his office and that is totally a reflection of him. The office is very cute, friendly, cozy, and warm. I felt very comfortable and relaxed being there with him. Jay worked on my petition himself and I was his sole focus. He didn’t talk down to me. He went out of his way to treat me like an equal. His letters, following my filing and after the discharge, were detailed, yet easy to understand and chock-full of useful information. All of my bankruptcy questions, even those I never thought to ask, were answered. I especially like all the information he gave for getting my financial life back after bankruptcy. He actually took the time to teach me about bankruptcy and finance. I know he didn’t have to do that. Jay has near-magical client skills. He was very understanding about the situation I found myself. He has such a calm demeanor. He was supportive and caring. Another attorney, whose ad I spotted in the same paper right next to Jay’s, when I called him, actually yelled at me on the phone. Jay, on the other hand, is all that is good and right when it comes to bankruptcy attorneys. From my first call through preparing the petition, the meeting with the trustee, the discharge and beyond, he was always “there” for me. He is a quality person who treats people the right way. He is one of the nicest, best people I have ever met. To sum up, I highly recommend Jay Simon. He is a special person in my life. I am so glad fate brought us together. I wish you all good luck. Blessings, Laney

Just Fill In Your Own Positive Adjectives!

Just got my discharge and am through with bankruptcy, so I feel it is time to write a review of my wonderful bankruptcy attorney. We never thank good people enough in this world, so here goes. I love the camaraderie Jay has with his clients. I never expected to feel like I was becoming friends with m...y bankruptcy attorney, but I did. He really got to know me personally and I could tell it was the same way with the other clients that I went with to my creditors meeting. I actually feel like I have made a friend. J is such an encouraging person. He has really watched over me throughout the process. He was very easy to deal with. He put me at ease the moment I walked into his office. He genuinely cared about my situation and offered a lot of worthwhile, thoughtful, personal advice. He made the whole process go as smooth as glass. I could not have found a better bankruptcy attorney. J is just a special person, not just a great bankruptcy lawyer. He did so many extra things that most other bankruptcy attorneys I don’t think do. My mom filed with another attorney last year, so I have a comparison. J was quick to get me in for my initial consultation at an inconvenient time for him, but convenient for me, while mom had to wait two weeks for her first appointment. He spent hours just going over bankruptcy, explaining stuff, before I even made a decision to file, while mom’s first appointment lasted a whopping 20 minutes and she was compelled to leave a deposit. J personally prepared my petition; going right to work then and there, while mom had to give documents to a paralegal, who did the work with a lot of back and forth. J took time and didn’t rush, as he wanted everything to be accurate. He also answered my many questions, calmly, simply, with a lot of knowledge. He peppered the preparation with stories from his experiences that made things interesting and helped me better understand things. After the filing, he sent an 8-page letter telling me about the meeting, instructing me on doing the education course, and other things having to do with bankruptcy. I received the letter in the mail two days after the papers were filed. Mom’s attorney didn’t send her anything for about two weeks and she only got a few sentences telling her when and where the meeting was and that she had to be there. On the day of the meeting, J had us meet with him an hour prior in his office, to review our petitions and discuss what was going to happen and then escorted us right to the meeting room. I loved not having to worry where I was going. Mom had to meet up with an attorney she never met before at the court. When we were through with the meeting, I actually wanted to hug him, but as I am a male, I thought it might be awkward for him and me. J would answer my emails almost immediately and he answers phones himself. Mom’s attorney would take days to respond to phone calls or emails. Jay reminded me, like clockwork, that I needed to do the education course that I was neglecting. The day I got my discharge, J was on the phone letting me know the news. I could hear in his voice that he was happy for me. He then sent a copy of the discharge under a fabulous, informative, full of advice, 18-page, cover letter, which also thanked me for hiring him and wished me good luck. Mom got no such call or letter. Mom only knew her case was discharged when she received the paper in the mail from the court. Last, mom’s attorney charged two and a half times as much as J and wasn’t worth even close to that. J, on the other hand, was worth about five times what I paid him. As you can see, J made this experience easy and painless. J took personal interest in me. I highly recommend J to anyone who wants first-class bankruptcy service. He is just the sweetest, most generous, caring, person I have met in a long time. Thank you for your hard work, your understanding, support, professionalism, compassion, all the extras and, especially, your friendship. - Top

Heart and Service

I would like to recommend bankruptcy attorney Jay Simon. I hired him after reading the reviews here and noting that he had a reputation for providing excellent client service, accessibility, and personal connection. That was exactly what I was looking for. While that is all true, he is so much... more. He really stands out. He has been an answer to my prayers. Jay is one of those human beings that you meet in life, and you only meet a few, who is the total package as a person. To me Jay Simon is a gentleman who happens to be a lawyer and while most lawyers have a bad reputation for looking out for themselves and how much money they can make, Jay is the opposite - his clients come first. I have never met a nicer, kinder, more genuine person. You just look at him, and you smile. In addition, the cost for his unbelievable services is a bargain, as he is worth so much more than what he charged. His work on my case was diligent, to say the very least, and he made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole process. I was so relaxed working with him. He went out of his way to make things easy for me. I felt supported. Jay goes out of his way to be responsive to his clients. Jay does a great job of keeping the client well informed. Amazing instructions and well-timed phone calls are just the tip of the iceberg. He is a very thoughtful person. When my hearing took place, thanks to Jay, I was ready, and confident. He covers every detail with you and ensures that there will be no surprises. I highly recommend Jay Simon for your bankruptcy needs! I have never had a better service experience in my life. I know he really cared about my bankruptcy going smoothly and being successful and he really cared about me. I am genuinely grateful and fond of Mr. Simon. It has been a gift to have him in my life. I now consider him a friend, not just my bankruptcy attorney. Because of him, I now know that there are still good people out there.

His rescue mission

The melt-down of my small business at first had started slowly around 2009 and suddenly plunged into the impending doom in late 2010. After having seen a couple of attorneys who were specialized in bankruptcy I realized that they all wanted charge me outrageous amount of fees. First of all how could... a person going through bankruptcy have such a large amount of money? I was losing the hope of getting out of the financial jam. Then I ran into his name, Mr. Jay Simon quite by accident and started reading his reviews. At first I was a little incredulous because of his much more affordable rate to the service compared to first two I met but somewhat I had a better feeling of going to the downtown Brooklyn than going to the cold and bleak buildings of the midtown Manhattan. Upon my first meeting with him, He immediately gave me ease with his friendliness and laid-back approach. Mr. Simon was very sympathetic and understanding of my situation (unlike other ones whom I had met in midtown. They had more condescending attitudes). After the first meeting I felt for the first time that the dark clouds over my head had started receding and started feeling positive. His filing process was very efficient and fast. He keeps me informed of all updates frequently. I am especially impressed with his follow up work after the meeting with trustees. Thanks to him, after the new year of 2011 I never receive any soliciting call from collection people! I highly recommend him to anyone who has similar financial problems.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I endorse this lawyer. Why? When you have a question, he gives you an answer as if you were across his desk so you understand the law, your options, and the answer to your question. Sometimes on AVVO we see answers to questions that in essence just say to see an attorney which is ok..as that is the ultimate answer. But this attorney will go beyond and try and fully and completely and in my view accurately answer it. Is that not the type of attorney you want? I would hope so and for that reason I endorse him."
