Jay is a fantastic lawyer and an even better person

Jay Simon is the most perfect bankruptcy attorney you could find. He provided excellent service and was very sweet and charming. I have not known a kinder man. Jay radiates kindness, compassion, and goodness. Jay, unlike other attorneys I consulted, handles everything personally. He got to k...now me and I now consider him a friend, not just a bankruptcy attorney. Jay is very caring and beyond kind. He is a wonderful person. He explained the process well. I actually feel he taught me about bankruptcy, not just pushed me through bankruptcy. He made the process of filing very easy to understand and also painless. He was great to work with in preparing the petition-he made it like a conversation, with stories, explanations, and questions. The other attorneys I went to had me fill out the forms, basically doing all the work, and were going to dump me off on their legal assistants to type up the information I provided. I wanted an attorney to do the work, not me or a legal assistant. I enjoyed meeting with Jay and working on the petition together. He convenienced me in scheduling my appointment. His office, unlike the others, is not an assembly line-I was not kept waiting even a second, our meeting wasn't rushed, he worked with me for hours, he didn't take calls during our appointment-I was his priority. He went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable with what I was doing. Jay sent a lengthy letter informing me about everything I needed to know and do after I filed before my meeting of creditors. He prepped me for court in his office. Other attorneys I saw at the meeting seemed to not even have prepared their clients or even know their own clients. Jay even walked me to court for my meeting. Other attorneys had other attorneys, who didn't even know the person and didn't have a hand in preparing the petition, show up to cover the hearing. Not Jay. He was there for me throughout. I wanted to have an attorney who knew me, knew my case well, who went to court with me himself. Also, many of the other attorneys didn't bother sending the trustee the necessary documents needed for the meeting to go smoothly. Their cases got adjourned waiting for their attorneys to do what they were supposed to do in the first place. Do you think that is what these people were paying for? Jay sent everything he was supposed to and everything went perfectly. Jay also sent a lovely, supportive, letter filled with detailed information about the effects of bankruptcy and providing guidance in rebuilding my life afterwards. To sum up: Jay made this difficult situation simple. I am glad that I went with him-he charged less and did so much more than the other attorneys I was considering were going to do. I would most definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to file for bankruptcy. I consider him one of the most special people I have ever met in my life. Even though my bankruptcy is long completed I call Jay regularly just to say hello and see how he is doing. I care about him and I know he cares about me. When I talk to him, he provides reassurance and support. He is so encouraging and helpful in giving advice in bankruptcy and in life. Would I call my former bankruptcy attorney just to say hello if I didn't think so highly of him? He is truly a gift in my life. I am so glad he is now a part of my life, forever. Thank you, Jay. God bless!!!

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

If you want an excellent bankruptcy attorney than go no further. I recently hired Mr. Jay I. Simon in a chapter 7 bankruptcy application and recently received my discharge. Mr. Simon was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in all respects in the process involve for my Chapter 7 application. I was ...extremely impressed how easy and relaxing Mr. Simon made me feel throughout this first time process for me. In addition, Mr. Simon took his time to explain the chapter 7 process from start to finish and allowing me to ask questions. Today I can only say that I am truly appreciative of having found such an outstanding Bankruptcy Attorney. Lastly, his fees are highly competitive. I have taken this time to write this review and would recommend Mr. Jay I. Simon as the best Bankruptcy Attorney... Thank You Jay - God Bless.

Just Fill In Your Own Positive Adjectives!

Just got my discharge and am through with bankruptcy, so I feel it is time to write a review of my wonderful bankruptcy attorney. We never thank good people enough in this world, so here goes. I love the camaraderie Jay has with his clients. I never expected to feel like I was becoming friends with m...y bankruptcy attorney, but I did. He really got to know me personally and I could tell it was the same way with the other clients that I went with to my creditors meeting. I actually feel like I have made a friend. J is such an encouraging person. He has really watched over me throughout the process. He was very easy to deal with. He put me at ease the moment I walked into his office. He genuinely cared about my situation and offered a lot of worthwhile, thoughtful, personal advice. He made the whole process go as smooth as glass. I could not have found a better bankruptcy attorney. J is just a special person, not just a great bankruptcy lawyer. He did so many extra things that most other bankruptcy attorneys I don’t think do. My mom filed with another attorney last year, so I have a comparison. J was quick to get me in for my initial consultation at an inconvenient time for him, but convenient for me, while mom had to wait two weeks for her first appointment. He spent hours just going over bankruptcy, explaining stuff, before I even made a decision to file, while mom’s first appointment lasted a whopping 20 minutes and she was compelled to leave a deposit. J personally prepared my petition; going right to work then and there, while mom had to give documents to a paralegal, who did the work with a lot of back and forth. J took time and didn’t rush, as he wanted everything to be accurate. He also answered my many questions, calmly, simply, with a lot of knowledge. He peppered the preparation with stories from his experiences that made things interesting and helped me better understand things. After the filing, he sent an 8-page letter telling me about the meeting, instructing me on doing the education course, and other things having to do with bankruptcy. I received the letter in the mail two days after the papers were filed. Mom’s attorney didn’t send her anything for about two weeks and she only got a few sentences telling her when and where the meeting was and that she had to be there. On the day of the meeting, J had us meet with him an hour prior in his office, to review our petitions and discuss what was going to happen and then escorted us right to the meeting room. I loved not having to worry where I was going. Mom had to meet up with an attorney she never met before at the court. When we were through with the meeting, I actually wanted to hug him, but as I am a male, I thought it might be awkward for him and me. J would answer my emails almost immediately and he answers phones himself. Mom’s attorney would take days to respond to phone calls or emails. Jay reminded me, like clockwork, that I needed to do the education course that I was neglecting. The day I got my discharge, J was on the phone letting me know the news. I could hear in his voice that he was happy for me. He then sent a copy of the discharge under a fabulous, informative, full of advice, 18-page, cover letter, which also thanked me for hiring him and wished me good luck. Mom got no such call or letter. Mom only knew her case was discharged when she received the paper in the mail from the court. Last, mom’s attorney charged two and a half times as much as J and wasn’t worth even close to that. J, on the other hand, was worth about five times what I paid him. As you can see, J made this experience easy and painless. J took personal interest in me. I highly recommend J to anyone who wants first-class bankruptcy service. He is just the sweetest, most generous, caring, person I have met in a long time. Thank you for your hard work, your understanding, support, professionalism, compassion, all the extras and, especially, your friendship. - Top

Heart and Service

I would like to recommend bankruptcy attorney Jay Simon. I hired him after reading the reviews here and noting that he had a reputation for providing excellent client service, accessibility, and personal connection. That was exactly what I was looking for. While that is all true, he is so much... more. He really stands out. He has been an answer to my prayers. Jay is one of those human beings that you meet in life, and you only meet a few, who is the total package as a person. To me Jay Simon is a gentleman who happens to be a lawyer and while most lawyers have a bad reputation for looking out for themselves and how much money they can make, Jay is the opposite - his clients come first. I have never met a nicer, kinder, more genuine person. You just look at him, and you smile. In addition, the cost for his unbelievable services is a bargain, as he is worth so much more than what he charged. His work on my case was diligent, to say the very least, and he made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole process. I was so relaxed working with him. He went out of his way to make things easy for me. I felt supported. Jay goes out of his way to be responsive to his clients. Jay does a great job of keeping the client well informed. Amazing instructions and well-timed phone calls are just the tip of the iceberg. He is a very thoughtful person. When my hearing took place, thanks to Jay, I was ready, and confident. He covers every detail with you and ensures that there will be no surprises. I highly recommend Jay Simon for your bankruptcy needs! I have never had a better service experience in my life. I know he really cared about my bankruptcy going smoothly and being successful and he really cared about me. I am genuinely grateful and fond of Mr. Simon. It has been a gift to have him in my life. I now consider him a friend, not just my bankruptcy attorney. Because of him, I now know that there are still good people out there.

His rescue mission

The melt-down of my small business at first had started slowly around 2009 and suddenly plunged into the impending doom in late 2010. After having seen a couple of attorneys who were specialized in bankruptcy I realized that they all wanted charge me outrageous amount of fees. First of all how could... a person going through bankruptcy have such a large amount of money? I was losing the hope of getting out of the financial jam. Then I ran into his name, Mr. Jay Simon quite by accident and started reading his reviews. At first I was a little incredulous because of his much more affordable rate to the service compared to first two I met but somewhat I had a better feeling of going to the downtown Brooklyn than going to the cold and bleak buildings of the midtown Manhattan. Upon my first meeting with him, He immediately gave me ease with his friendliness and laid-back approach. Mr. Simon was very sympathetic and understanding of my situation (unlike other ones whom I had met in midtown. They had more condescending attitudes). After the first meeting I felt for the first time that the dark clouds over my head had started receding and started feeling positive. His filing process was very efficient and fast. He keeps me informed of all updates frequently. I am especially impressed with his follow up work after the meeting with trustees. Thanks to him, after the new year of 2011 I never receive any soliciting call from collection people! I highly recommend him to anyone who has similar financial problems.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I endorse this lawyer. Why? When you have a question, he gives you an answer as if you were across his desk so you understand the law, your options, and the answer to your question. Sometimes on AVVO we see answers to questions that in essence just say to see an attorney which is ok..as that is the ultimate answer. But this attorney will go beyond and try and fully and completely and in my view accurately answer it. Is that not the type of attorney you want? I would hope so and for that reason I endorse him."
