Poor performance

Johnson dragged on my case for a year and half, billed me through the roof, demanded more money before trial and dumped me week before the trial was to occur. New I found lawyer settled the case in 6 weeks zero issues. In addition he failed to bring the stay away order in front of the judge so was l...eft homeless and Johnson was stomped on by the opposing lawyer. The opposing lawyer even brazenly said Johnson is old and has lost his game. No sure what he was in the past but go elsewhere or you will pay for it in a big way.

Well Represented

I was a client of Martin Johnson @ Johnson and Cohen. I was just about to post a review when I read this recent review in front of mine. This is clearly some disgruntled, unhappy person or an adversary of Mr. Johnson. This is not who Marty Johnson is. The rest of the reviews on this site are an acc...urate picture of who Marty Johnson is. My experience with Marty and his firm was that he is very organized, aggressive (when needed), prepared and responsible. All of my issues were not only addressed but resolved. Divorcing is not a great experience, but having Marty and his firm at my back, I was relieved and confident. The Courts / Opposing Attorneys can hold up proceedings with adjournments, etc. but that is no reflection on my attorney. Shame on the person who misrepresented him in their review. If you need a top notch attorney, Martin Johnson is the attorney for you.

Simply the best!

My wife hired Marty to finalize her divorce with her ex-husband and an extremely contentious custody battle ensued. Without getting into an insane amount of detail, I would say that the entire ordeal was a complete nightmare, lasting many years because my wife's ex-husband is a miserable person with... plenty of money and a ton of time on his hands. Marty is an amazing attorney. When you are with him you feel confident that he will get you the best outcome possible and he certainly did. We literally never lost any of the many different cases we had over the years despite having an awful Attorney for the Child who clearly sided with her ex-husband, multiple judges, including a horrible judge who couldn't remember anything from one appearance to the next and certain situations that put us at a major disadvantage on paper. Marty is tough so if you want your hand held, he is not your guy, but if you want to win your case, he 1000% is your guy. He is simply the best - he has a courtroom presence like no one else and it's clear that the judges respect him. We are extremely thankful that he represented us and owe him a tremendous amount of gratitude for going the extra mile for us. Hiring him is an absolute no-brainer!

Martin Johnson review

I hired Marty Johnson to represent me in my divorce earlier this year. His experience and professionalism is second to none. I was well represented and fairly billed. I would recommend his services to anyone.

The best in the business! Bar none.

Marty Johnson has my highest, unreserved recommendation for managing a complex divorce in Westchester County. Marty is the best in the business and I am not alone thinking that way. When I hired Marty, I knew I was in good hands when I learned my wife's attorney recently went through his own divorc...e. Who did my wife's attorney choose, you ask? Martin T. Johnson! Unfortunately, this was not my first divorce and I did not have a good result the first time around. I speak from experience. To me, a divorce attorney has to be a good partner. Both the client and attorney have to work well together and be a good team to generate the best results. There are very few attorneys, in my mind, that can pull that off. They can't do it because their ego gets in the way...it's their way or the highway. Marty, on the other hand, actively sought my input and used it to maximum effect. He was responsive, compassionate and brutally effective with the information provided. I would marvel at the level of detail he could recite in open court and in judge's chambers where he would usually emerge with that 'I'm about to give you good news' contained smile. He translated facts and melded them into coherent legal speak that always resonated with the court. If I were to focus on one important aspect of Marty's effectiveness it would involve custody - the most emotionally charged and draining experience one can have. Some attorneys can prey on their client's emotions. Marty does not. During my experience, I left countless emotional voicemails and emails during the ups and downs of the custody and awful forensics process. I knew if Marty responded I was onto something and he would use it with remarkable effect. That said, his lack of response became just as important to me. If he didn't respond, I knew my points wouldn't amount to much in court and Marty didn't waste any time or billable hours addressing my emotions that would lead nowhere. I could go on and on but I'll conclude by saying Marty has a unique demeanor that generates respect of the judges, law guardians, and his opponents alike. My truly amazing results are testament to his remarkably high skill level. He destroyed his opponents with a smile and while maintaining the utmost respect of the court. My wife ended up burning through three attorneys and ultimately admitted in open court that she had no match for Marty. My divorce had a lot of moving parts - so many moving parts that it could have been a disaster if we didn't work well together. At one point, Marty was managing custody issues, a failed real estate transaction of my own doing (don't ask) and alleged violations of protective orders. It was a mess that Marty managed for me with such effectiveness that, looking back, I don't know how I could have gotten through it without him. The moral of this story: you want Martin T. Johnson in your foxhole.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I have worked on a number of cases with Mr. Johnson as opposing counsel. He is a tough litigator and impressive negotiator with a courtroom presence and signature style that has earned him the respect of the bench and bar. He remains one of the most experienced divorce lawyers working in New York State and brings a wealth of experience to his cases. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone seeking a smart, skilled and ethical attorney in a complex family law matter."
