After graduating from the College of Charleston, Mia began her financial and banking career working for Citigroup in the San Francisco Bay area. For the next 22 years, she worked as a Senior Business Leader at Citigroup, G.E. Capital, and Bank of America. Her tenure with these organizations formed Mia's strengths in leadership and the ability to navigate even the most complex financial documents, and critical skills in matrimonial matters. Mia works with professional forensic accountants with her clients, but her knowledge of financial matters enables her to confidently respond to the financial aspects of divorce, especially in high-net-worth cases.

Great Attorney

Mia is fierce, I meet her during the consultation and knew right away I wanted her services . I didn't look further . I hired her what started as response to remove a lift for a no move order that was placed from my daughter's father . We ended up working on relocation / that turned into a custody case and a separate child support case together. Working with Mia for 8 months was a great experience. I learned alot from her and her staff. She corrected the judge a few times which favored my case , she never backed down when the judge was " not being so nice or professional . She knew her facts , she knew where to aim those bombshells, she knew how to deal with my daughter's father attorney (all while being professional .)I referred her to a family member and will continue to refer her to others that need a great attorney .

Highest level of excellence and professionalism

I must admit that it took me a while to write this review, because I wanted to make sure that I do not understate how pleased I am with how Mia Poppe and her firm represented me during my divorce. Divorces are challenging and painful and mine was no different. From day one Mia was open and honest about how the procedure of my divorce would take place. She was very knowledgeable and experienced in working with the judges as well as the opposing attorney in assisting me in finalizing a very difficult and lengthy divorce proceeding. In addition to her professionalism she was also very kind and compassionate to my situation and genuinely concerned about me as an individual and not just a client. She was able to decipher the hostile environment that I was transitioning from and was supportive not only through my divorce but even afterwards. She even called to check on me just to see how I was "holding up" during times when she figured I just needed "a shoulder to cry on"! She is a great attorney that will fight hard for you and she pulls no punches. She is also very supportive. In addition, her office staff was always pleasant, approachable and reliable. Sarah Khan was the one that handled most of the paperwork for my case and she was wonderful to work with. Correspondence, telephone calls or any type of communication was handled timely and appropriately. I was not living in New York during the time of my divorce, however I was always timely advised and kept privy to any and all necessary information. The Best Family Lawyer in New York City

Ms. Poppe is an extraordinary lawyer who also cares deeply about her clients. I, like the other reviewers, highly recommend the Law Firm of Poppe & Associates. I am also the soon to be ex wife of the individual who posted a negative review of Ms. Poppe titled "I did not have a good experience". I apologize that his negative review was posted only because the Firm fought for my rights under the law. My husband is an abusive man who believes he can assault, attack, and defame women. I recognize the language in the post as the same attacks against Mia Poppe were made by my husband and his lawyer in open court and in court filings. The judge in my case was also a woman and 6 court officers carried an employee of of my husband's lawyer's firm out of court due to his verbal attack on the female judge. Ms. Poppe and myself have been given police escorts while leaving the court due to the court's fear of violence against us. My husband's lawyer was sanctioned by a New York County Supreme court judge for $2,500.00 for the outrageous behavior and statements. My husband was ordered to pay Ms. Poppe $5,000.00 for the frivolous court papers he filed attacking Ms. Poppe and the judge. Again, I recommend Ms. Poppe as a highly qualified choice for your legal representation. Thank you Ms. Poppe!

Client Friendly, Efficient Service

The Law Firm of Shaw and Associates, were excellent in completing my divorce matter. As complicated as it was, they were able to cost effectively complete the matter in record time (for NYC). Not only was service efficient, but the levels of professionalism and expertise exhibited throughout the process were not only met but exceeded. My phone calls and emailed concerns were addressed promptly and completely. Divorce attorneys typically have negative stigma for high expenses and no or slow results. Not so with this law firm.

Rescued!

I was going through a horrendous divorce that was made more complex from the advice of bungling lawyers who either didn’t care or were simply too inept in dealing with my case. I was sinking fast into the morass of the NYC Court System. In the nick of time, I was able to hire Mia Poppe to manage my case. She was extremely comforting and sensitive to me as a client. The best!

I was in a real sticky situation with my divorce and the judge gave me a pro bono lawyer by the name of Mia. She came in like a storm and firstly made me comfortable, she is personally hands on with you and her staff is very professional and are also very caring. Mia kept working with me although my hours had long ended, making sure I got what was well deserved. One in a million, high integrity lawyer

Divorce is worse than death - well it can be with the wrong lawyer, chose Mia and you will avoid the most critical pitfall. Mia Poppe was my lawyer and she stood in stark contrast to my spouse’s lawyer. Mia asked me my priorities, and then stuck to them. Did I want to fight for every dime? Or did I want to finish asap? And her actions were dictated by this. When decisions needed to be made (often emotional, life changing decisions) she was there to share the options, her recommendation, remind me of the priorities I had shared and let me decide what I wanted, and it was always my choice. These choices were not easy, but they were mine. The legal system is often counter intuitive and favors underhanded maneuvers as every Motion costs more and more to have Justice done and that can quickly become too expensive. I was grateful not to lose myself in this process and be able to walk out of my divorce with my integrity intact and my best interests at the focus of every decision. I like to know Why things have to be this way or that way, but in those moments in court when you don’t have time to discuss everything, I trusted her and I am glad I did. Only later in the divorce process could I see that when I went with her on doing things that didn’t make sense to me at the time, we were really acting for my greater good and avoiding hours of needless ‘legal hours’. Mia believes there are enough divorces and family law matters in the world, and she doesn’t feel the need to ‘suck you dry’ (as my spouses lawyer was clearly doing). I came prepared to Mia – I knew my facts, dates, had my paperwork and details. And I was an advocate and resource for possible arguments and Mia was the guide and my voice, knowing the rules and system and outcomes, together we made the divorce happen. Many thanks to Mia and her team for helping me to change my life for the better and supporting me through a challenging time by being a true resource.
