Experienced Advice and steadfast guidance
I first contacted Scott for a consultation and several minutes into our conversation, I knew that he was the right attorney for me. Besides being very knowledgeable, he has a reassuring bedside manner. He is honest and has an unbiased direct approach to the situation, followed by how he can help and the best way to approach the issue. I never felt pushed into making any decisions and my questions and concerns were always met with understanding and concern. Scott is very approachable and was always very responsive and available to speak with me - both before I hired him and after. This was extremely valuable to me. Scott was instrumental in helping me reach a successful outcome.

An attorney you can trust
Scott gave just the right advise and is obviously a veteran in the field of debt settlements and bankruptcy matters. Scott's opinions were always given w clear, practical options and consequences in support of my best interests and, as importantly as solid knowledge in his field, I observed over time that his advise was given with my best interests in mind, rather than toward actions resulting in higher attorneys fees. I now consider Scott to be an important and trusted ally that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Scott to a friend or family member.

Professional, Aggressive, and Experienced in Court
Scott helped me resolve a dispute last year. I own and operate a hair salon in NJ but I was sued in a NY Court by the company that handled my credit card processing. That company committed fraud and was being investigated by the Attorney General. My business has no connection to NY. Scott researched and drafted a motion to dismiss the case and argued it in court. The judge agreed with our motion a nd forced the company to settle. I was very happy with the result.

Scott Gets Results
My Condominium Board hired Scott Lanin after an owner in our building had their lawyer threaten to sue the Condo. We got on the phone with Scott and immediately felt like we were in good hands. He knew exactly how to handle the situation and helped us avoid a lawsuit. Since the owner clearly had no legal recourse to go after us, they ended up selling and leaving the building. Scott is a great attorney, very experienced, and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him.

I'm so glad this worked out. I always try to help my clients avoid the time and expense of litigation. It's not always the best option to fight in court but it helps when the other side knows you can.

Smart, efficient, professional, and tough (where you need him to be!)
Scott Lanin was recommended by a friend whom I trust (through a shared professional organization; the other gentleman is not a lawyer). He was amazing. Based on my voicemail and email, he contacted me over a weekend, continued to write to me and receive documents, and called me on Sunday, even though he had family obligations which he was juggling. He was reassuring and smart, honest and efficient. I have no doubt that he worked for every penny he billed for, and I am happy to pay him for his help which ended up avoiding costly litigation and settling the dispute in my favor. I always felt that I was in trustworthy and competent hands. He's smart, takes his time, and get results. What more could any client ask for? He even reminded me that my constant emailing him in my anxiety was raising his fee! Totally honest person. His firm was a pleasure to do business with, including his staff and his paralegal.

Amazing at what he does
We started my journey with Scott a bit over 5 years ago. He is calm and knows how to make sure you stay calm. He is extremely knowledgeable and is a master at his craft! Everything that he recommended worked out in our favor and we couldn't be happier with our end result. Thank you for making this a smooth journey for us.
Response from Scott Lanin February 29, 2016
Thanks so much for your nice review! I really appreciate that you took the time to do this so that others will know that they can trust me to help solve their legal problems. It's amusing to me that my being calm was what you noticed. I think it comes from training in the martial arts for 32 years. I think of it as being in the eye of the hurricane.

Smooth chapter 13 experience
Scott is extremely knowledgable and to the point. He knew how to deal with the trustee to ensure our proceeding went smooth. Scott also recommended that we wait for the homestead exception to increase in NYS before filing. This was a great idea because it saved us a a lot of money money and made our chapter 13 possible. I highly recommend Scott for anyone looking for a quality lawyer.

Response from Scott Lanin February 29, 2016
Thanks so much for your nice review. I really appreciate it so that others will know that they can trust me to solve their legal problems. In this case, what made the difference was the knowledge that New York State was considering increasing the homestead exemption and waiting for that to happen a few years ago. Once that occurred, my client's Chapter 13 payment plan became feasible because the higher exemption reduced the percentage he was required to pay his unsecured creditors. We used the law to our advantage here!

Excellent Debt Renegotiation / Restructuring Attorney
Scott did a remarkable job restructuring my debt and releasing the full value of my personal assets. Prior to working with Scott, I was weighed down by almost US$100,000 in personal and medical debt, and facing the very real prospect of bankruptcy as well as the foreclosure of my property. Within 18 months of hiring Scott, not only had I been entirely relieved of my previous debt burden, but I had also managed to retain and invest in some cash-generating assets, thereby allowing me to pursue a fresh start in life.

I want to thank this client for this wonderful review. It is truly appreciated. I strive to have all of my firm's clients feel that they got more that they expected. Although I am very experienced with bankruptcy law, it is a last resort. I try to help clients avoid that and look for other solutions whenever possible, as was the case here. I'm very happy this worked out so well.

Superb and Trustworthy Attorney
I have known Scott for about 8 years now. I met him after having bad experiences with several attorneys in connection with an investment property I own in the Bronx. I had reached a settlement with my lender and sent them an agreement and payment but the lender tried to foreclose anyway. Scott filed papers with the court in a contested case and helped get the case dismissed. It was an amazing result! He is very experienced and knowledgeable and always protects my interests. With his help, I've been able to collect rent from my property for many years and the legal fees were minimal compared to my rental income. He also offered me flexible payment terms. He always takes the time to explain things clearly to me and has been very easy to work with. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs an attorney for litigation, foreclosure, or business matters.

Excellent advice.
I consulted with Scott on a bankruptcy/collection matter. He correctly advised me not to pursue it as the odds were stacked against me and emotion would not make it work. He was correct 100%. None of the creditors that filed against the company were paid and he wound up saving me thousands in legal expenses that I never would have recouped.

Thanks Sam! This review shows that sometimes it makes sense not to pursue legal remedies. Sometimes, when the benefits are far outweighed by the costs, the best advice is to just let it go.

A Very Trustworthy Attoney
I hired Scott in the latter part of 2008 to represent me for a loan modification and /or Foreclosure. It's now 2015 and Scott has done an excellent job protecting my interests. I am not sure what the ultimate outcome will be, but, Scott will be protecting my interests all the way.

A Trustworthy Attoney
I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Scott Lanin for over 11 years; however, he has represented my company since the inception of his firm in 1999. Over the years we have worked together on many different types of cases, each unique in their own way. He has been instrumental in helping to recover large debts and equally effective in counseling me through difficult contracts and legalese. He is extremely knowledgeable about the law, yet has the ability to explain it in a simple, comprehensive manner. While Scott is more versed in the law than I am he listens to my comments and ideas about approaching a case and never forces us in a direction that I am uncomfortable with. Scott is attentive to the details involved and is thorough and responsive in his replies --this is an asset not easy to find but immensely appreciated. Scott is a professional who is dedicated and eager to assist. If you are seeking counsel, I highly recommend Scott Lanin. You will not be disappointed.

Home Mortgage Restructure
Scott did a fabulous job. Scott helped us understand the tools available to encourage our lender to negotiate a restructured mortgage rather than foreclosing. The ability to slow the process enough to re-enter the workplace and build up our earnings again while simultaneously negotiating with a lender taking foreclosure action was the difference between staying in the same home, sending the kids to the same schools and drastically restructuring out lives. It wasn't easy, but it wouldn't have happened at all without Scott's help. The fees were fair, and well worth it.

Listen Up
Until recently, I had never experienced the emotional journey of suing anyone, much less a member of my own family. The timing couldn't have been worse. I lost my partner of 25 years and, several months later, my 10 year old dog. Although I was at the lowest point of my life, I had no choice but to hire an attorney to help me fight for what was rightfully mine. Through a recommendation, I hired Scott Lanin, of Lanin Law P.C. I was treated with respect, was always in the loop and never felt condescended to - all things I hold dear. In the end, I, along with other family members who also inherited the property, won a hard fought disputed case, fair and square, through a court ordered sale of property, resulting in an unanticipated and surprisingly high auction price. I never expect to have this experience in my lifetime again, but if I do, Lanin Law is a no brainer!"
