Jeffrey P Scaggs

Jeffrey P. Scaggs is a skilled litigator with extensive criminal and civil experience.   Mr. Scaggs handles the defense of individuals charged with serious crimes throughout the New York metropolitan area, routinely litigating in the state and federal courts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Mr. Scaggs’ areas of expertise include white collar defense litigation, drug distribution and possession, weapons possession, sex offenses, as well as burglary, assault, robbery and other violent crimes. Mr. Scaggs has worked on several homicide cases, including a capital murder trial. An accomplished trial attorney, Mr. Scaggs has secured acquittals in several jury trials.

As a civil litigator, Mr. Scaggs handles complex business litigation matters, corporate disputes, real estate litigation, breach of contract suits and other civil actions. In a recent corporate dispute among the shareholders of a prominent New York corporation, Mr. Scaggs argued before the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court, Second Department, and was victorious.

Mr. Scaggs’ practice also includes transactional matters. He has represented banks, purchasers, and sellers, and has closed hundreds of real estate deals.

Jeffrey attended Muhlenberg College before graduating Fordham Law. He is licensed to practice law in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and he is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. He is an active member of the New York State and New York City Bar Associations, and lives in New York City with his dog, Cali.
