Todd Andrew Spodek

The firm represented my retail shop with the USDA in reference to a fraud (trafficking) investigation. I hired them after I already answered the USDA letter and was disqualified. This was for a full agency review. I hired a local law firm who in CA who helped me but they did not have a good grasp on ...the statute and the individual laws that are required to be proven in order to keep EBT. The Spodek firm helped me every step of the way and we were able to submit a very well done in depth response to the allegations. Everything was available online 24/7 and enjoyed working with the team. I am waiting on the decision but I understand it can take months. I have dealt with a number of lawyers before and everyone here seemed to really care to help me every step of the way. I will update my review once the decision comes back but I am very pleased.

Todd and his paralegal Alex and assistant Shantel are the best team I have ever come across. I came to Todd on May 21, 2017 on a Sunday morning ready to have a stroke, because I was being investigated by HRA fraud department. At this time I had received the target letter on May 19, 2017 from them say...ing I was being investigated for food stamp and Medicaid fraud. This was the scariest situation I have ever found myself in. The firm has a team that handles Medicaid and food stamp fraud investigations in NYC. I went to the Downtown Brooklyn office and met with Todd from the time I saw him and the way he greeted me and my spouse we knew that we were in good hands. He gave us such a warm welcoming feeling we felt very comfortable as if we knew each other for years. I started to explain my situation and he saw the fear I had and he instantly told me what my outcome would be and promise me I would be fine. He said it to me and my spouse as honest and straightforward as he can be. He then started to pull up all active cases in his system and showed me and my husband how very small percentage of people who receive target letters from HRA actually get prosecuted. After hearing this I and my spouse decided to hire him no questions asked. Once hired they immediately canceled the scheduled meeting with the investigator and faxes over a letter of representation, next a claim detail report was uploaded to their online client portal system. I uploaded my tax returns, paystubs, mortgage statement, Marriage certificate and all other documents that were requested at the time. I must say Shantal is an AMAZING woman I basically dealt with her when i was not able to get in touch with Todd because he was always in court. She answered whenever I called, unless she was in court herself or in the HRA building. She also communicated by text if she was in court or with HRA to let you know she will call you in a few. I am so happy to have made the right choice. Spodek and his team are the best in the city for Food Stamp and welfare fraud investigations. Today I received the call from Alex he is the best I may say and he said to me good news both cases are settle wow I was in shock and amazed how the outcome turned out I could not ask for better results thank you guys for helping me through this rough time and most of all for clearing my name as well, Words cannot explain the feeling and relief that I’m feeling at this moment. The firm represented me in a medicaid and food stamps fraud case with social services. I had to pay back money but I can happily say the firm treated me with nothing but respect and consideration. I really appreciate that I can always reach Todd, Alex and Shantal by their cell phone and text. I also ...went to the Queens office in LIC which was very close to my house and I can drive and park there. I would have never made it to the Manhattan or Brooklyn office.

My husband's employer received a payroll request form from HRA/BFI requesting all of his payroll records. My husbands employer told him in secrecy and immediately I started to freak out and research the situation online. I came across numerous websites but none as comprehensive as Spodeks. I setup ap...pointments with all of the lawyers who seemed to do this work and there was no question that Spodek's firm was the right fit. Mr. Spodek and his paralegals know the process in and out. The consultation which was free (unlike one of the other attorneys who wanted $360.00) was over an hour long with no pressure to retain them whatsoever. One lawyer tried to tell us we were are risk of immediate arrest and we should hire them to avoid a criminal record, which turned out not to be accurate. Spodek explained by accepting benefits you are authorizing the city to investigate your income, your household and other variables which would effect your eligibility for benefits. They had a laptop which they showed us the exact document which my husbands job received and walked us through each part of the subpoena. They then showed me a target letter which would be next unless the case was referred directly for civil or criminal prosecution. We then went through a CDR which detailed the benefits that are paid out on behalf of an individual and lastly they showed me a criminal complaint with the same investigator as my husband had. I met with them in the Manhattan office on they 46th floor and is a very nice professional office. However, as I work in Brooklyn I dropped off the documents and dealt primarily with Shantal in that office which is also very nice. The comments in regards to the online system is true it's great and a very nice way to track your case. I will say that the fee charged here is higher then the other lawyers but my husband and I felt it was well worth it. We wound up setting the case, avoiding criminal prosecution and meeting with the investigators at HRA. All of the investigators were very accommodating and my husband and I never had to meet one on one with them. They signed the settlement documents in Spodeks conference room and the investigators agreed to come there. The only thing I would agree is that it's very hard to just call and reach the attorney, they want to schedule a specific time.
