Jean L. Chou

I first worked with Ms. Chou a few years ago when she assisted me in my purchase of a NYC co-op as a first time apartment buyer and this time worked with her in the selling of my home on Long Island. Ms. Chou was smart, insightful and helpful throughout the process and I trusted her to give me good a...dvice as a first time seller. Even under pressure at the closing Ms. Chou was calm, tactful, strategic and instrumental in getting the final deal done. I absolutely recommend Ms. Chou and certainly hope to work with her again in the future.

I retained Jean to handle the sale of my co-op. The apartment took a while to find a buyer and Jean periodically checked in to see how matters were progressing. When an offer finally was accepted she was ready to go right away and worked hard to get the contract signed ASAP. The buyer's attorney w...as lax and not motivated and Jean made sure the deal was completed promptly. She explained the contract in detail to me and ensured my right were protected. When it came time for the closing she provided an excellent sheet detailing the money I would be receiving and the money to be paid out. At the closing she made me feel comfortable the whole time with what I was signing. Also she worked hard to ensure I paid the lowest possible fees for UCC filings. What I liked best about working with Jean was that she always kept in communication with me about what was going on. She replied to my emails very promptly and I never felt like I was in the dark about my deal. I would use her again in a moment.

It's hard to exaggerate just how wonderful Jean is. My husband and I recently purchased our first home, and quite frankly had little idea of what we were doing, or what to expect. New York real estate is a nightmare to navigate, especially when buying into a co-op (which we did). Even during the ...most stressful times, Jean was excellent, level-headed, and hugely helpful. She was incredibly patient with our inexperience, and went above and beyond the call of duty to get us to our closing. We simply could not have done this without her. It is with great pleasure that recommend her, and look so forward to working with her again in the future.

We used Jean for two different real estate transactions in the past year. The first one fell through while in contract for contractually acceptable reasons but the seller became very difficult, unresponsive, and unwilling to return the down payment. We came to rely on Jean for guidance as we sued to... retrieve our down payment. The process was tricky, stressful, and confusing. Jean was patient with us at all times, and gave clear advice. Her diligent follow through and organization skills were instrumental in us finally receiving the down payment in full without resorting to court. Jean then helped us with our next transaction which was to purchase a place that was being renovated. This was yet another sale that was not straightforward, but Jean showed great understanding of what this contract needed and fought for us the entire way. Our interactions with Jean were so positive we fully plan on inviting her to our house warming party!

As a first-time purchaser, I went to Jean for what seemed to be a simple real estate transaction for a co-op. Before I even made an offer, Jean took the time to walk me through the entire process and what I should expect, putting my mind at ease. From the time of my offer and through to the closing..., Jean was responsive and kept me apprised of things as they happened. We unfortunately experienced two delays outside of our control. First, a flood occurred in the unit prior to closing and Jean was immediately helpful in determining the best course of action and negotiating the remedy. Second, the seller's bank delayed due to missing bank documents, and Jean was on top of the next steps in moving the closing and minimizing the impact to my costs. What I initially thought was going to be a simple transaction got a little complicated and took a little longer and I was glad that I had Jean there to guide me along the way. I would highly recommend Jean to anyone looking for an *trustworthy* experienced attorney.
