Jeffrey Paul Barnes

Mr. Barnes combines an extensive background in business with a wide range of legal experience to provide his clients with a uniquely practical perspective. He has been engaged in the private practice of law since 1997. Since then he has joined the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys (AAEPA). This organization promotes high standards of excellence and integrity in the legal profession, and limits it's membership to attorneys of only the highest moral character. While the New Jersey State Bar only requires 12 hours of continuing legal education, Jeffrey Barnes must complete 36 hours of continuing legal education each year in order to maintain his position within the AAEPA. Mr. Barnes believes in the importance of proper planning not only for his clients and their peace of mind, but for the security of their families as well.

Mr. Barnes handles residential and commercial real estate transactions, including:

     - acquisitions and sales of single-family homes, condominium units, hotels/motels, restaurants, bars, businesses and office buildings

     - creating condominium units

     - counseling condominium associations

     - liquor license transfers

     - structuring and organizing limited liability companies, partnerships and corporations

     - creating and reviewing loan agreements

     - title and liens

He also handles estate planning and administration, including:

     - drafting wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts

     - family wealth preservation planning

     - family partnerships

     - generation-skipping tax planning

     - marital agreements

     - insurance planning

     - buy-sell agreements

     - special needs planning

     - asset protection

     - estate and trust administration

Mr. Barnes strives to help clients preserve their wealth, prepare for the future and address new issues as they arise. He is able to effectively accomplish this by creating strong relationships with his clients and their families, and by incorporating modern technology and current planning techniques into his office.

Outside of the office, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and their two sons. He also enjoys exercising, especially playing squash at a community fitness club. Jeff also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Ocean City Arts Center and is the Treasurer for the Marmora Pack 79 cub-scout organization.
