After being charged with a DUI, I started my lawyer search on Avvo and narrowed my choice down to about 4 or 5 attorneys. Out of all the attorneys I contacted Elliot was the only one I was able to speak with personally, which was a good sign and moved me in his direction right from the start. I... scheduled an appointment and after meeting with him I was very pleased. His fees were well below the quotes I received from the other attorneys and he was upfront and straightforward about what was I was facing and how he intended to handle my case. Further, based on the DUI-related research I had done on my own prior to meeting with him, he was very knowledgeable on the penalties and consequences associated with DUI in New Jersey. But his greatest asset turned out to be the personal relationships he had with the Court personnel in the County where I was being charged. While I do not know the extent of his connections throughout the state of New Jersey, it appears that he has developed many relationships throughout NJ and that he is well-respected by most. Both the Judge and DA knew him well and I could tell there was a positive connection between them. I am sure this played a factor in the outcome I received in my case. My Tier 3 offense essentially became a Tier 1. My BAC (0.15+) was thrown out and I basically received the minimum penalty/fees possible for a DUI in NJ. Throughout the duration of my case, I never spoke or met with anyone but Elliot and he was personally there to meet me in Court both times I had to appear and that in itself is a huge comfort and relief when you hear your name called and you're standing there in front of the Judge. Im quite sure I received the best outcome possible and Elliot made sure to verify that I was certain and confident in the choices I was making throughout the process. Although I have no point of comparison to other DUI lawyers (and I hope I will never have to again), I am completely satisfied with the representation I received from Elliot Stomel and I have no regrets hiring him.

Elliot is a straight shooter. He is knowledgeable about his speciality, DUI defense, and I assume also about criminal defense. He is also familiar with the operations of local courts in the South Jersey area. If it IS possible to get your case dismissed, he will find a way! Unfortunately in my case t...hat was not possible, and I know that for a fact - because Elliot reviewed the state's evidence against me, and questioned me, looking for every possible avenue of relief. I am impressed with his conduct and thorough advocacy. Though it is impossible to plea bargain a DUI in NJ, he got me the minimum penalties, had 3 other tickets dismissed, came close to knocking-off the ignition interlock requirement, and saved me 7 months of interlock requirement that does exist (about $700 for this period) during the duration of my my license suspension. HIS fee is also reasonable, and he is transparent. For what it's worth, he is also loquacious and personable. His charisma is disarming when wielded against bureaucrats! Another bonus when I walked away after paying the fines without confiscation of my license (to be used for identification purposes until reinstatement.) DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! It sucks.
