I was recently charged criminally for something I didn’t do nor could have for numerous reasons, one being that I wasn’t even present or had any knowledge an event occurred, etc. No doubt COVID 19 and not being able to engage face to face with various court officials compounded the situation. I was... originally advised by others that I would just have to let the process “play out” and that no doubt the charges would be dismissed during the “CJP”, “PIC”, etc., process. While that may be how it is supposed to occur due to backlogs created by the pandemic these “hearings” were nothing more than asking if you understood your charges, if you had an attorney or if you were seeking representation from a public defender. (If you qualified of course meaning if you work and make over a certain amount you don’t qualify). At no time was it made known to the court that I wasn’t present, that the incident involved a medical emergency and not a crime, etc., nor was I permitted to present the information. In short the steps in place that are supposed to prevent this level of escalation did not. My employment requires criminal background checks at various intervals and being an “At Will” employee not getting the matter addressed in a timely matter could significantly affect my career. Having never needed the services of a criminal attorney I did my research and spoke to a few attorney friends and all roads led to Elliot Stomel. A close lawyer friend of mine referred Elliot Stomel to me immediately after telling him I recieved several traffic tickets awhile ago and never paid them. I completely forgot about it for over a year, even missing my court appearance. His first words were contact Elliot Stomel ! He is hands down the...
