Mr. Clark, an experienced criminal defense attorney, launched his legal career in 1995 in the Appellate section of the Prosecutor's Office. Transitioning to the Family section (Juvenile crime/Domestic violence) in 1996, he handled a diverse array of juvenile cases, spanning drug charges to first-degree Armed Robberies and Aggravated Sexual Assaults.

As a Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor for over 12 years, Clark managed a caseload that included domestic violence restraining order violations and related weapons forfeiture cases. His 2003 promotion to the Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit marked his prosecution of serious offenses like Aggravated Sexual Assault and Attempted Child Luring.

Assuming the role of Director of the Asbury Park Satellite Office in 2006, Mr. Clark oversaw indictable cases, provided legal advice to the police department, and supervised major crimes investigations, including those related to gang-related homicides. Departing the Prosecutor's Office in 2007, he established his criminal defense law firm, earning recognition as a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney in 2009.

With extensive trial experience, comprising over 70 felony jury trials covering Murder and Aggravated Sexual Assault cases, Mr. Clark excels in negotiating favorable resolutions or vigorously defending clients' rights at trial. His thorough understanding of legal issues and a proven track record make him a valuable asset for clients seeking a robust defense across nearly every county in New Jersey.

Excellent Attorney and result
Hired Charlie for defense of a minor. Excellent attorney and is well respected by his peers. Explained exactly what would/could happen and delivered the result we were hoping for. Very personal and great guy to deal with.

Amazing Lawyer!
Charles Clark helped me out with a simple assault case. I was worried because I'm not one who typically gets into trouble. Charles explained to me the possibilities of what could happen and throughout the process up until the court date, we corresponded just so I can be more at ease about my case. Charles was very knowledgeable about the possible outcomes, while at the same time talking to me in a calm, friendly, and courteous manner to make sure I felt more relaxed. If you have another lawyer and his name is not Charles Clark, I suggest you drop that lawyer and get this one. By the way, the outcome of my simple assault charge was that it was dismissed. Thank you again Charlie!!

Last of the good ones
Charlie is very competent, professional, focused and caring. He knew the law and used his knowledge to educate me, a person that is naively honest and a person that never experienced any legal issues was in great fear. He is a proactive, straight-shooter, optimistic attorney. His knowledge kept me calm, I found him to be very detailed, a good listener and very trustworthy. For over a year, he was consistent, attentive, respectful, and didn't ignore my case after he had received payment. I always felt that I had hired the best! He was always early for our meetings, always prepared, never was distracted, never rude or condescending, did everything that he could for my case and performed as promised. Charlie always answered/returned my calls/texts and kept his word. I have never done a review and I'm not very trusting of attorneys, and Charlie knew it, I really feel that Charlie, who was a total stranger, really worked hard for me, as if I was his family!

Professional, friendly and reassuring!
Charles Clark is the most trustworthy attorney I've had. During my case he ensured I was well informed. When I had my consultation with him, he made me feel at ease. If I ever need legal assistance again, I already know who I'm hiring! Thanks Charles!

current dui and cds case
The first and only lawyer I didn't feel the need to take a shower after speaking with. Extremely reasonable concerning cost and freaked out clients.

Speeding ticket...Attorney Charles Clark
I had a speeding ticket...63mph in a 25mph zone...$260.00 plus 5 points (and God only knows how high my insurance rates would go up)...the highest speeding ticket you can get. At court, Charles Clark got the ticket reduced to a zero point unsafe operation offense with no effect on my insurance. I had to pay a token surcharge/fine and Mr. clark's retainer which was nothing compared to the costs associated with a 5 point ticket! I recommend Charles to anyone...indeed I recommend the ENTIRE Clark & Clark firm (Charles, Susan, and Ryan Clark). Professional and sensitive people.

This attorney goes above and beyond what any other attorney will do for a client.
I am a leader in my community. I was arrested on false charges. Charlie immediately took my case on (and charged me a very reasonable rate, which in these days is quite important) and wrote a 9 page letter to the prosecutor. My charges were DROPPED and my case expunged. Charlie never gave up on me. He is the BEST of the best. You will NOT find a better attorney to represent you.

Charlie Clark has been my attorney for the past two years defending me on a criminal sexual assault case. During this time, Charlie has fought tirelessly for my voice to be heard and my innocence to be shown. He and his associates have won motion after motion on my behalf. Although this nightmare is still ongoing, Charlie has won me a new trial, by having the judge overturn the jury's original verdict and lowering the degree of charges against me. My first two attorney's where rushing me to plea to a crime I did not commit. Charlie and his associates have heard my side of the complaint and believed in me from day one! My family and I are truly blessed to have a firm like Clark and Clark in New Jersey that truly care about justice and not plea bargains.

Quality law experience and extremely trustworthy... TOP Notch attorney
I couldn't ask for a more qualified attorney. Charley Clark is exceptional at trial. He is helping me and my family through a very difficult sexual assault case. We are about to go through a second trial after the judge overturned a guilty verdict thanks to new evidence and a superb motion written by Charley.

ruined my life!!!
my family hired Charles to defend me when I was a minor, he would never answer any of my family's questions and constantly missed appointments with me, I felt like Charles was working hand in hand with the prosecution. I was pressured by Charles and his partner to take a deal I wasn't comfortable with as a minor. close to 10 years later Im working with a great legal team to have my charges overturned and my legal team has been surprised by the numerous lies in my case by the prosecution that my first attorney Charles never looked into. horrible lawyer, just out for a paycheck

Response from Charles Clark April 27, 2023
I have no idea who "Matt" is. I've never had a juvenile client where I wouldn't answer a families question and I have never missed an appointment with any of my clients. I also would never pressure anyone to accept a plea deal since I routinely go to trial unless my client wants to negotiate a plea. So, "Matt", if you really were a former client (and I don't believe you were), feel free to put a full name to your post or have your new legal team reach out. If the case is 10 years old, I'm surprised you can find a legal team since you are out of time for either an appeal or a PCR.
