Consummate Professional

Having consulted with a few different attorneys regarding a family court matter, it was extremely evident during a consultation with Amy that she was dialed in and was a true professional. From the moment of saying hello to Amy, I felt comfortable. Very quickly she set herself apart because it was ev...ident that she had studied the motion for the consultation. Now this wouldn't normally be considered extraordinary, but the motion I was presented with from my ex was about 3/4" inch thick. She referenced things even I hadn't seen. That is number 1. Secondly, she advised me that my matter and my argument had merit but more importantly she detailed the possibilities with reference to the time that might be involved mitigating the issue. This was a refreshing interaction that guided me to what I hope would be a good decision based on return vs. investment. She answered questions that I thought of after the consultation and continued to offer guidance. In my opinion, Amy is a consummate professional and anyone would be lucky to have her represent them. Thanks again Amy.

Amy is very knowledgeable and compassionate

Amy was great to work with during my horrific divorce . She was always available to talk and answered emails (whatever time ) within minutes. She got the job done expeditiously and she didnt cost an arm and a leg .

A Lawyer That Cares

Entering into a family law matter is a painful and arduous journey to navigate. It’s filled with anxiety, plot twists, anger, frustration and confusion. This is where you’re at your most vulnerable and experience the most self-doubt. This is also the place where you need to be clear with yourself and... others on what you’re fighting for and why you’re fighting for it. This is the time when you need an advocate who is willing to hear you, value you, be honest and transparent with you. Prior to retaining Amy, I learned the unfortunate lesson that not all lawyers operate this way. Prior to Amy, I had an attorney that made me feel like an invoice number. They couldn’t remember our last conversation and the action items discussed, but easily nickel and dimed me when I followed up on status updates. When a colleague of mine caught wind of the concerns I had with my legal representation, she implored me to give Amy a call, and so I did. In the span of our 45 minute phone call, I received more clarity and honest feedback about the predicament I was in than I had in the entire 7 months of my custody journey, so I retained her. Immediately, Amy worked feverishly to de escalate my custody matter providing me with honest feedback on where we were within my case and what our next steps needed to be. She always maintained a clear goal of what we were aiming for and always kept what was in the best interest of my child in mind (which is extremely important to have). When there were delays or other shenanigans were going on, she heard me through my tears and frustrations, showed true empathy and validated the feelings I didn’t want to speak on (again, important to have). Most importantly, I felt like she was ALWAYS working on my behalf. Just because I was out of sight did not mean I was out of mind. If I followed up on an action item, she was able to inform me of her last point of contact on the matter and what we were waiting on. Amy was the attorney that I needed all along, but didn’t realize I didn’t have until it was almost too late. Family law is already a difficult journey, choosing an attorney that will earnestly advocate for you shouldn’t be.

Without Hesitation I Recommend Amy Harris

I have worked with more attorneys than I can count, both in the real estate business and in my past life as a regulatory director in a large international company. All I can say is working with Amy Harris was a refreshing & rewarding experience. Amy truly is on her game. She knows the law both techni...cally and in a practical sense. Not only did Amy provide sound advice and advocacy, she was quite balanced and knew when to pick her battles. This earned her the respect of the judge and the mediator, and when Amy spoke, people listened. She won the initial alimony decision before the judge, and then helped me secure a favorable mediation outcome. The result was a major reduction in my alimony payments, with a firm termination date as a bonus. The icing on the cake was that Amy's billing practices are extremely fair and I NEVER felt like she was milking my bank account. Do not pick another attorney before you speak with Amy Harris. You'll hire her on the spot!

former client

I had a very quick divorce through Ms. Harris. Practical advice that didn't waste time, money emotions on silly things that tend to make a divorce unnecessarily complicated. I found her & her para-pegal pleasant, warm & diligent. I hope to not use her for a divorce again but wouldn't hestitate if I h...ad to.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
