If you get charged with something such as this there are very little ways of getting out of it. Most lawyers won't even bother trying to get the charges completely dropped, they will simply try to negotiate a guilty plea in exchange for lesser penalties. You are reading this correctly… I was issued summonses for driving under the influence twice, and today I do not have driving under the influence on my driving record, only points for reckless/careless driving. After being charged with my 2nd DWI, I was sure that I would have a mandatory two year loss of license along with thousands of dollars in fines.
