I'd like to think that I can read "legal speak" pretty well, and I've had good luck representing myself when interfacing with governmental entities in the past, but the USPTO is an entirely different animal. The examining attorney was citing irrelevant examples and throwing ridiculous objections at m...y application until Gene stepped in on my behalf. He helped me navigate the red tape, and finally found a solution that the examining attorney would accept and thus my mark was allowed to be registered. It took more than 15 months of back-and-forth with USPTO, and Gene stuck with me throughout the entire process. A very professional guy with decent taste in music, might I add. Highly recommended. Gene is the person you want on your trademark! I’m SO happy we were connected. I tried to do it all by myself and when my refusal came in I was at a stand still on how to proceed. I recently just created a business and went through legal zoom for my trademark process. Listen, I was told from the start that getting a trademark normally means that most likely it will go in office action review....which then will make you either choose to defend your mark or hire an attorney. ...Well, lets just say unless you are a lawyer you should probably hire someone, BUT WHO? ..well...I can tell you who ;) I got piled with emails from different lawyers who all just really wanted money and they didn't even look at my trademark and office action before even sending a quote. It was discouraging and frankly a bummer. I just wanted to continue to live a dream..... Then Gene emailed me. Of course I was hesitant.
