I'd like to think that I can read "legal speak" pretty well, and I've had good luck representing myself when interfacing with governmental entities in the past, but the USPTO is an entirely different animal. The examining attorney was citing irrelevant examples and throwing ridiculous objections at m...y application until Gene stepped in on my behalf. He helped me navigate the red tape, and finally found a solution that the examining attorney would accept and thus my mark was allowed to be registered.
