also known as Vitoria Guimarães
Vitoria Guimaraes is a Partner at Brooks Law Firm and the Head of the Workers' Compensation department, where she oversees one of the firm's largest and most impactful practice areas, representing injured workers throughout Massachusetts. With more than a decade of experience in the legal field, Vitoria leads with a rare combination of strategic insight, operational excellence, and an unwavering commitment to client advocacy.
Born in Brasília and raised in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Vitoria earned her Bachelor's degree in Public Relations from PUCRS — Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, along with early professional experience organizing events and communications for the Rio Grande do Sul State Public Security Department and the Rio Grande do Sul House of Representatives, before immigrating to the United States. After arriving in Massachusetts, she pursued additional education in business communications and English at Boston University and the Computer Systems Institute, and worked as a customer service representative before her career took a defining turn.
Vitoria's legal journey began at Brooks Law Firm in 2015 — not as an attorney, but at the front desk as an administrative assistant. It was there, in direct contact with the firm's immigrant clients, that she discovered her calling: to become a legal voice for communities that are too often overlooked or underserved. She was soon promoted to Managing Paralegal, a role she held for more than four years, gaining deep hands-on experience in case management, client relations, and legal operations within a busy personal injury and workers' compensation practice. Determined to build a legal career of her own, Vitoria left Brooks Law Firm for two years to gain additional experience as a paralegal at an immigration-focused law firm, all while pursuing her law degree. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Massachusetts School of Law in 2023 and is now licensed to practice law in both Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Vitoria returned to Brooks Law Firm in 2023, and her deep institutional knowledge, case management skills, and leadership ability quickly stood out. She was appointed Head of the Workers' Compensation department and later named Partner, making her responsible for overseeing all workers' compensation operations at the firm — including staff attorneys, paralegals, and litigation strategy across hundreds of active cases. Her leadership role requires not only legal acumen but also the ability to coordinate workflows, ensure client-centered results, and uphold the firm's high standard of care for injured workers throughout Massachusetts.
Vitoria is known for being hands-on with her team, mentoring attorneys, refining internal systems and processes, and continuously finding ways to elevate both client outcomes and staff performance. Despite her broader leadership responsibilities as department head and firm partner, she remains actively involved in litigation, personally guiding complex workers' compensation cases through settlement or trial.
As Vitoria describes it, her mission is to give immigrants a voice, to work tirelessly so that clients receive all the rights and benefits they deserve under Massachusetts workers' compensation law, and to build strong, lasting relationships within the communities Brooks Law Firm serves. Fluent in Portuguese, she plays an important role in ensuring that Brazilian and Portuguese-speaking workers — many of whom face additional barriers after a workplace injury — have access to knowledgeable, culturally attuned legal representation.
Vitoria's leadership reflects the heart of Brooks Law Firm's values: relentless advocacy for injured workers, compassionate client service, and a meaningful, ongoing connection to the immigrant communities the firm was built to serve.
