Difficult employment case

I was involved in a very complex and difficult employment case dealing with FMLA and ADA, and a lot was on the line, very high-stakes and stressful. I consulted with about 16 lawyers before I found Joe and I knew he was the right person after I spoke to him. He saw things from the angle I saw them, w...as very focused and detail-oriented and tenacious- he didn't miss a beat. It was an extremely stressful time in my life and I'm so glad I chose Joe because through the 4-month process which was rather traumatic for me, he was reliable, dependable, stable, professional. We were up against a tough opponent but he was very keen in our negotiations which we're delicate, and intuitive- he had a 'pulse'/sense of things and seemed to know when to take a certain action which resulted in the other side signing our agreement. He was always accessible, respectful, and made me feel like I mattered and he listens. Joe is clearly passionate about what he does, and it is also abundantly evident that his heart is in it, and he truly cares, which makes him a great lawyer, one step ahead of anyone you're up against. He adheres to high ethical standards, was always transparent with me, and communicative. He has heart, talent, and instinct, slam-dunk combination of traits which is what makes him so good at what he does. I owe my ability to be able to continue forward in the career that I love and that I began investing in 10+ year ago to Joe's dedication to his craft and hard work.

Grateful to have found Joe

I hired Joe in 2013 to help me with a discrimination complaint against my employer. I went to a couple of lawyers before Joe, but my case was unusual, and these lawyers would not take the case. But Joe did, and I am so grateful. He worked very hard over a period of 5 years to help me navigate the Mas...sachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and then through the Superior Court to get me to a jury trial. The case was very complex, and he worked tirelessly to win the case. He was always professional and gave me sound advice. He was also very supportive and understanding during this difficult process. The thing I like most about Joe is that he truly cares about his clients and wants justice for them. And that's what he did for me.

I love this guy

I just elected Joe to represent me in a suit against a huge fortune 100 company. This guy is the real deal-- trust me. His tenacity is one of a kind and he makes you feel like he will jump through hoops for you. His response to phone calls and emails are prompt. Nothing but good things from Joe- you ...the man. PHIL

REVIEW

First and foremost my lawyer took almost double from my settlement than he told me in writing What he would be taking. I was very upset as his assistant coached me into taking an offer and it felt to me as if it was a bait and switch. On top of him taking almost double than what he told me I was ta...xed on the money he received. When asked to structure the settlement differently so that I wasn't double taxed, he told me it was too much of a hassle. It also took way to long to settle my case. I was told initially that I could do my deposition in the state I reside in as I have health problems and this ended up not being the case so I was sort of forced to settle. I was very unhappy with the outcome and wish I read that he was a civil rights lawyer and not an employment lawyer which is what I needed.

I cannot provide any detail about my representation about this client without breaching attorney-client privilege, but I can assure everyone that what he says is not true. I was very clear upfront about what our fee was - we have the same signed agreement as I have with all my clients. The amount of taxes may have been surprising to him, but I made it clear that I am not a tax attorney. Also, I gave a discount to this client after he expressed dissatisfaction with his recovery (and he still wrote this review). The choice to settle was his, as it is all clients. Finally, I am an employment attorney as well as a civil rights attorney, contrary to this person's statement.

I could not have found a better Lawyer......seriously call him !

In May of 2010 while working full time as a fitness trainer I started my transition from male to female, I am a transgender woman. In November of 2010 I was fired from my job. I then went to The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and filed a complaint of discrimination against my former ...employer. My employer responded with a position statement and I then wrote a rebuttal. I was then told it would take MCAD 18 to 24 months to determine whether or not there was probable cause for discrimination. In July 2012 MCAD had determined that they had found probable cause for discrimination. At this point I felt overwhelmed, in January of 2013 myself and my counsel and my former employer and his counsel would meet at the MCAD office for a conciliation hearing. I knew at this point I needed help. I went online and spent four hours reading lawyer profile after lawyer profile website after website. I wanted to find a lawyer who represented me, a trans woman, someone who understood me and my life. I called a few and the response was the same telling me they don't have any experience working with trans people. I continued searching click after click and somehow I came to http://www.sulmanlaw.com/ and there were the words I had been looking for, Gender discrimination and LGBT discrimination. I picked up the phone and called and spoke to Joe's assistant attorney David who told me to send all the paper work I had and they would take a look. That was a Friday afternoon, Monday morning David called back and we set up a meeting for the next day. The meeting went as well as I had hoped, I was very impressed by both Joe and David and I hired them both that day. From the day on when I hired Sulman Law I have continued to be impressed with their Understanding of myself, their knowledge of the law, their ongoing communication and their thorough preparation. I can't say enough good things about Joe and David....... and yes we won a decision of over $170,000 !!
