Joseph Lear Sulman

I hired Joe in 2013 to help me with a discrimination complaint against my employer. I went to a couple of lawyers before Joe, but my case was unusual, and these lawyers would not take the case. But Joe did, and I am so grateful. He worked very hard over a period of 5 years to help me navigate the Mas...sachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and then through the Superior Court to get me to a jury trial. In May of 2010 while working full time as a fitness trainer I started my transition from male to female, I am a transgender woman. In November of 2010 I was fired from my job. I then went to The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and filed a complaint of discrimination against my former ...employer. My employer responded with a position statement and I then wrote a rebuttal. I was then told it would take MCAD 18 to 24 months to determine whether or not there was probable cause for discrimination. In July 2012 MCAD had determined that they had found probable cause for discrimination. At this point I felt overwhelmed, in January of 2013 myself and my counsel and my former employer and his counsel would meet at the MCAD office for a conciliation hearing. I knew at this point I needed help. I went online and spent four hours reading lawyer profile after lawyer profile website after website. I wanted to find a lawyer who represented me, a trans woman, someone who understood me and my life. I called a few and the response was the same telling me they don't have any experience working with trans people.
