Teacher Employment Sexual Orientation Discrimination Dispute

Attorney Justin Murphy handled my sexual orientation discrimination dispute case effectively. During consultation he was professional and understanding given the sensitive nature of the dispute. Specifically, he provided legal advice, filed legal documents, and provided me with representation during ...an initial case hearing . Although my case was not accepted to move forward by the Department of Labor Relations due to a statute of limitations of six months on complaint filings (my file date was past the deadline), I did not have any regrets with my decision to hire Attorney Murphy and to discuss my complaint against the Boston Teacher's Union at the Massachusetts State Department of Labor Relations.

Justin represented me for a case regarding wrongful termination and racial discrimination. He was professional, easy to talk to, and always available via phone or email. I think the most comforting part about working with Justin was his trustworthy character.

Legal Consult for At-Will Termination from acquiring company & investing age discrimination

I found Justin Murphy via the Boston Bar Legal Referral Service (LRS). If I had just accepted what an attorney told me that I found on my own, I would have given up and not pursued challenging an at-will termination by an acquiring company, however had a strong undertone of age discrimination. Attorn...ey Murphy followed up promptly after my inquiry to LRS and was readily available to guide me through information to gather. He was responsive when I had a question and kept me informed of steps to resolve or pointed out responses or actions that may occur. In the end, my case settled within weeks and instead of a mere 2 weeks severance after nearly 5 years of service, he negotiated 2 months and 1 week. His attorney fees are reasonable and he was flexible to permit me to pay attorney fees in 2 equal payments, 2 weeks apart. This was much appreciated with no job and no income. Within 6 weeks of my at-will termination, my case was negotiated, additional severance agreed, and the 1st severance payment was received. I highly recommend Justin Murphy.

If, like me, you were fired because of an egregious civil rights violation...

Contact Attorney Justin Murphy. He made the best possible use of the time and service that I could afford. Within a 1.5 hour period, he patiently explained the applicable laws and the various strategies of proving discrimination, so that I was able to present an effective complaint. I had previou...sly contacted 50 Civil Rights NGO's ,only to find that pro bono services were not available. Justin provided the services that I needed at I price that I could afford. I will consult him again, if I need help, as the process progresses.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
