About me


Mr. Harper specializes in criminal law defense. He has conducted over 60 criminal trials and handled over 1,800 criminal law cases. He has extensive experience as a prosecutor. He has handled all types of criminal law matters from basic misdemeanors to serious felonies at both the juvenile and adult levels.  Mr. Harper has tried cases involving drugs, firearms, DUI, attempted murder, and many other alleged crimes.


With over 23 years of riding experience, Mr. Harper also handles any legal matters relating to motorcycles. He has experience in motorcycle cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, driver negligence, and other cases in which motorcyclists have been harmed. He also has experience in cases involving criminal charges against motorcyclists. This legal background, coupled with Mr. Harper’s 23+ years and 300,000+ riding miles covering  48* states makes him a great choice for your motorcycle matter.


Mr. Harper is currently a member of the Alameda County Bar Association Criminal Law Court Appointed Attorney Program. His offices are located at Jack London Square in Oakland, California.


Prior to attending law school at the University of Florida College of Law, Mr. Harper served on active duty in the United States Navy. He served as a Supply Corps Officer on board the USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69), a nuclear powered aircraft carrier stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.


In 2008, Mr. Harper was recalled to active duty and deployed to Khost, Afghanistan where is served as an embedded combat advisor to the Afghan National Army and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Achievement in that combat theater. Mr. Harper currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy Reserve.




*While he has ridden in 48 states, Mr. Harper is licensed to practice law solely in California.
